Republican campaign consultant Kellyanne Conway pleaded with Republicans to stop underscoring that their Democratic foes support unrestrained abortions, and suggested that Republicans rather concentrate on finding a common ground.
On Wednesday, Conway discussed her aid for both TikTok and in vitro fertilization while even laying out an abortion-related political strategy at Politico’s Health Care Summit.
Conway emphasized that she is” 100 % pro- life” and encouraged Democratic lawmakers and commentators to” stop being science- deniers” and” stop pretending you do n’t know what you see on a sonogram”. She noted that when polled more granularly about abortion, Americans were both in favor of protecting newborn children who could experience pain and support of abortion exclusions.
Conway, who previously served as Donald Trump’s top adviser, added that she does not promote Republicans to mention that their opponents support pregnancy from conception until the day, despite the Democratic Party and most Democratic politicians having consistently refused to explain any rights they would assistance.
” See how I did not state, and counsel customers against saying,’ Democrats are for pregnancy up until the moment of delivery.’ You are aware of why that’s hardly the best way to claim it. she asked. Nobody knows anyone who is about to give birth and says,” You know what?” I do n’t really like stretch marks. I’m never entirely prepared to have a second person in my life. I changed my mind.’ Nobody has ever known that person.
Conway finally made the implication that Trump was metaphorically speaking when he told Hillary Clinton, a failed 2016 presidential candidate, that she could “rip the baby out of the pregnancy just before the baby’s birth, just before the baby was born.”
” That’s kind of a metaphor for who is actually serious here, and people involuntarily said,’ Oooh, could that be real?’ And I think it changed a lot of the conversation”, Conway explained.
She did not respond to a post ask for this content right away.
Conway’s notes conflict with those of popular pro-life organizations like the Susan B. Anthony List, which encourage Republicans to show Democratic fanaticism on pregnancy.
Sen. Marco Rubio, R- Fla., also urged Republicans, in a January memo initially reported by The Daily Signal, to join a three- bladed approach: to battle for a pro- family agenda, to highlight Democrat extremism on the issue, and to tell the truth about the horrors of abortion.
He even emphasized to his coworkers that Republicans have the moral compass on a subject that involves the murder of an unborn baby.
Pro-life advocates should remember that protecting unborn people is the moral center and goal of our movement, and we ca n’t be shy to say that,” he said. No pro-life plan should be given the name without promoting strict restrictions on abortion.
He wrote,” This is an option for Republicans to concentrate and remember who we are.” Our party firmly believes in the respect of the individual person, the importance of household, and the inherent right to life. There is no reason that more completely fuses those ideas and inspires the support of tens of millions of our party’s supporters than the pro-life cause. We are obligated to make effective arguments for that reason.
At a different place in the Wednesday talk, Politico’s Ryan Lizza asked Conway:” How do you recommend a Republican candidate who truly says … ‘ I believe an embryo is a human existence'”?
” I know a few people like that”, Conway responded. ” I do n’t know many. You always seem to want them to be the rule, not the exception, I know.
” You do n’t know anyone who believes that life starts at conception”? interrupted Lizza.
” I know many people who believe that, you’re talking about embryos”, she continued, before he pressed:” You do n’t know anyone who believes embryos are a human life? That’s a very common position in the pro- life movement”.
She later said that she would advise a candidate who believes life begins at conception to say”, I am pro- life, and here is what that means, “before emphasizing the importance of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as” our first rights.”
Conway also urged GOP candidates to discuss close family members and friends who support abortion and draw attention to the exceptions that they personally support for abortion.
” You show me your exceptions,” she encouraged Republicans to say to Democrats”, And I’ll show you mine.”
