‘ Very horrified’ by skilled team’s independence on Israel- Hamas battle
On Friday, about 50 Harvard Medical School students and faculty members criticized the president of the American Medical Association’s “neutral” position on the Israel-Hamas battle.
Jesse Ehrenfeld, chairman of the AMA, was at HMS for” Match Day,” when medical students “across the state open letters that determine where they will function after graduating,” according to the Boston Globe.
However, the “mostly passive demonstrators” who had banners displaying” Let Gaza Live” met HMS students and their families! and” AMA is responsible in genocide”.
Citing the concept of “medical impartiality” in the first times of the Israel- Hamas turmoil, the AMA declined to call for a stalemate. It did, however, “acknowledg]e ] the immense scale” of the humanitarian crisis.
This resulted in it being “targeted” by extra- Israel protesters such as the team Healthcare Workers for Palestine, one of the administrators of the HMS opposition. The party claims the AMA is “inconsistent” on its impartiality as it had ripped Russia’s invasion of Ukraine two years ago.
Boston doctors Lianet Vazquez, an HMS student, said the discrepancy” shows that AMA does n’t worth Palestinian lives as much as Ukrainian life, or non- bright life as much as white life”.

Anti-Israel protesters were “very silenced when it comes to talking about Gaza,” according to HMS Professor Hibah Osman. Osman had dark audio covering her mouth to reflect being censored, just like other protesters at the event.
Undergraduate Aparna Nair- Kanneganti stated that she and other medical students are “fairly horrified” by the AMA’s position on Gaza:” You the n’t bind to this idea of medical independence in a situation where an entire ethnic group is dying.”
From the account:
Red tape was reportedly sprayed on the faces of protesters both inside and outside the Ehrenfeld lecture hall to acclaim what they claim is censorship by the Harvard Medical School command. As the occasion wound to a close, individuals unfurled a big banner from a rooftop inside the house’s hall that said,” AMA is Complicit in Palestinian Genocide”.
On Monday, Harvard Medical School’s headmaster, Dr. George Daley, sent an email to all medical students and faculty, reminding them of the school guidelines for “mutual respect and open discourse”, with a reminder that disruption of Friday’s event could result in “long term expert consequences”.
HMS’s official article on” Match Day” makes no mention of the protest or the activists.
