Wanted no punishment for protesters who swore against school rules
A band of activists are being disciplined for their activities at a mid-February” study-in,” according to the University of Pennsylvania party Freedom School for Palestine.
According to , The Daily Pennsylvanian, members of the Freedom School “occupied” an area of the Van Pelt Library for approximately eight hours on February 19, hanging advertisements “on the equipment and windows” in contravention of school legislation and reportedly “disrupting” some individuals trying to study.
After being instructed many days to take them down, the activists claim that they kept re-hanging their advertisements.
There does n’t seem to be any morality in the case of those who choose to support the Palestinians in Gaza, according to one Freedom School member, who claims the school “likes to tout how laws without morals are in vain”.
The Freedom School launched a petition this week to request that any sanctions be lifted against the individuals for their “peaceful nondisruptive” research.
The complaint claims that Penn targeted the five students because of their “previous associations with pro-Palestinian arranging on campus” and offers a slightly different interpretation of what took place in the collection.
Despite complying with each and every requirement, students were also unfairly sent for disciplinary proceedings. […] The University’s attempts to intimidate student campaigners demonstrate that Penn is implicated in the murder in Palestine. It’s obvious that Penn is trying to judge speech and pro-Palestinian activism that its billionaire donors disapprove of, but the action of the Penn administration also lacks any foundation or basic evidence to support it. This obvious abuse of power by Penn officials…
The Freedom School was created in November and initially made three demands of Penn:” call for a ceasefire in Gaza, protect freedom of speech, and establish ]… ] critical thought on Palestine across campus”.
About a hundred Freedom School protesters once more broke Penn do guidelines by disrupting a meeting of the Board of Trustees. After only a few seconds, the appointment was ended.
The activists had alleged Penn makes “donations to the I. D. F.”, the Israeli Defense Forces, which a college official denied.
