Laken Riley‘s father, a medical student who was killed, is speaking out about his mother’s death on the University of Georgia college.

Jason Riley said in an exclusive interview with NBC News on Monday,” I wish I could have been there to defend her.” &nbsp,

Authorities say that an illegitimate alien from Venezuela killed Laken Riley, 22, a medical student at near Augusta University, by bludgeoning her to death Feb. 22 on her former school in Athens, Georgia, where she graduated next year.

” I cry every day”, the parents told NBC News ‘ Priscilla Thompson. ” I wake up every time thinking, you know, that I may call her. And I the n’t”. &nbsp,

Riley described his daughter as” an angels” who enjoyed running sports. She dreamed of being a caregiver and working with children, he said. &nbsp,

” We were looking forward to seeing her doctoral next time”, he said. ” She was so full of life. I detest that she was taken but quickly. &nbsp,

Laken Riley went out for a jog on her former campus Feb. 22, but did n’t return home. Her body was discovered in a forested area on the UGA school after a friend called the police. Authorities determined that she died from brain blunt power trauma. &nbsp,

Jose Antonio Ibarra, an unlawful alien from Venezuela, was arrested and charged with Riley’s death. &nbsp,

Ibarra, 26, second crossed into America illegally in 2022, authorities said. Ibarra was detained in New York last year on suspicion of endangering children, but he was released before local law enforcement had request his release. &nbsp,

Riley’s parents was questioned by Thompson about whether he believed a change in immigration policy would have had a positive impact on Laken. &nbsp,

” We have no idea if that would have changed everything, but he’s these fraudulently” Jason Riley said of Ibarra. However, I do know that he might not have been here if our borders had been safe. &nbsp,

Ibarra has not yet entered a petition, but he is said to have requested a judge trial. &nbsp,

Jason Riley claimed to NBC News that he believes his girl is “becoming fairly socially used.” &nbsp,

” How do you feel about that”? Thompson asked. &nbsp,

” It makes me angry”, Riley said. She excelled above all of that. She ought to be viewed as who she is.

The demise of Riley sparked debates about border surveillance in both Washington and the rest of the country. &nbsp,

During President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address March 7, he acknowledged Riley’s death yet as&nbsp, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R- Ga., had been heard in the market crying,” Say her name”. &nbsp,

” Lincoln Riley, an honest young woman who was killed by an illegal”, the president responded, mispronouncing the young person’s first name.

Biden later said during an interview on MSNBC that he should n’t have referred to Riley’s alleged murderer as” an illegal” .&nbsp,

Before a March 9 Trump campaign rally, Riley’s mother and stepfather met with previous president Donald Trump in Rome, Georgia. &nbsp,

Sens. Ted Budd, R- N. C., and Katie Britt, R- Ala., along with 32 different senators, introduced the Laken Riley Act, previously introduced in the House, on March 13. &nbsp,

If passed and signed into law, the measure would involve Immigration and Customs Enforcement to arrest illegal refugees who” commit fraud, larceny, offense, or theft offenses” and “mandate that these creatures are detained until they are removed from the United States”, according to a speech from Budd’s business. &nbsp,

On March 7, the House approved the Laken Riley Act, with 37 Progressives supporting it along with all other Democrats.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D- N. Y., has yet to take the invoice to the Senate surface for a ballot. &nbsp,
