Laken Riley went out for a jog on her former campus Feb. 22, but did n’t return home. Her body was discovered in a forested area on the UGA school after a friend called the police. Authorities determined that she died from brain blunt power trauma.  ,
Jose Antonio Ibarra, an unlawful alien from Venezuela, was arrested and charged with Riley’s death.  ,
Ibarra, 26, second crossed into America illegally in 2022, authorities said. Ibarra was detained in New York last year on suspicion of endangering children, but he was released before local law enforcement had request his release.  ,
Riley’s parents was questioned by Thompson about whether he believed a change in immigration policy would have had a positive impact on Laken.  ,
