Hannah Storm, the 61- year- ancient ESPN number, received a startling diagnosis after a regular mammogram screening in November 2023 revealed she had “dense breasts”. Although Storm had previously had follow-up ultrasounds without any issues, her most recent screening required an extra ultrasound.
She scheduled the follow- up for January 3, without necessity, but was contacted about soon after the interview. The American Cancer Society notes that deep breasts contain more cells than fat, which makes mammogram readings difficult because both tissue and possible tumors appear light in the results.
In an appointment with PEOPLE, she shared,” They said,’ We saw things and we’d prefer to test it. It’s definitely nothing. Never a big deal.'”
She added,” I kind of wish they had n’t said it’s not a big deal”. On January 11, the same day Bill Belichick announced his resignation from the Patriots, Storm was driving home from an exhausting time at work when she received a call from an unidentified amount. The colonoscopy was scheduled without delay.

The visitor was the doctor. ” I knew someone was off”, she said.
Storm has long been a well-known activities columnist and television host. Over her job, she has worked with big sites such as CNN, NBC, and ESPN. She is recognized for her efforts to sports television, especially her protection of the NBA, NFL, and several Olympic Games.
” I merely heard’ shoulder cancer’ and I was shocked”, Storm recalled. ” I was but stunned. I’ve had annual mammography and there was never anything, I have no family story. I had no problems. I had no chunks. I actually had nothing that would have indicated that I had breast cancer.
Unfortunately, she experienced no pleasure when Mount Sinai Hospital’s Mount Sinai Hospital’s Chief Surgeon and Director of Dubin Breast Cancer Center, where she had previously been diagnosed with her situation, until she reconnected with Dr. Elisa Port, Chief Surgeon and Director of the Dubin Breast Cancer Center. ” Dr. Port called me quickly and her first words were,’ You’re going to expire of things. You are not going to kill of this,'” Storm recalled. ” She not merely did my operation, but guided me through the entire method”.
After conducting an MRI, Dr. Port suggested a biopsy for Storm after discovering two carcinogenic areas. The operation, performed safely on Feb. 1, was followed by a long delay for Storm to get her established results.
Since receiving her treatment, Storm is then “feeling good” and taking first-class care of herself. My left breast does n’t look exactly like my right breast every day when I look in the mirror every day. There’s the gash it”.
” Actually when I look in the mirror, I have this profound sense of gratitude. It serves as a regular reminder of how fortunate I am. I had no symptoms. If I had n’t had a mammogram, I would not have known this was there and it could have been much more dangerous, much more serious, and potentially deadly”, she said.
She said,” This just underscores how crucial it is to commit to your own health and undergo a lifesaving screening.” Provide yourself the best chance possible because breast cancer survival rates only keep rising, and early detection is a big part of it.
” The more people who talk about breast cancer, the better. So I did beat that disc permanently”.
Storm has produced video films and is an activist for various reasons, including raising awareness for venous malformations, which her own child has. She has also worked in sports journalism. Storm’s success has been characterized by her ability to break obstacles in a typically male-dominated area, making her a well-known figure in the sports media.
