    Minister Considers Probe of Telegraph Sale as Ofcom Raises Concerns

    After Ofcom raised concerns over the United Arab Emirates ( UAE)-backed takeover of the Telegraph Media Group, culture secretary Lucy Frazer said on Tuesday that the minister is considering further intervention.
    The regulator has warned that the proposed acquisition “may be expected to violate the common interest” in terms of truthful monitoring and free speech.
    Ms. Frazer stated that she intends to send letters to the parties involved in the proposed acquisition informing them of the merger’s status.
    Before the culture minister did make a final decision, the parties were given a month to listen.
    Next time, Abu Dhabi- backed account RedBird IMI reached a deal with past Telegraph owners, the Barclay home, to take control of the news team and fellow publication The Spectator, by paying off debts owed to their bank, Lloyds….
