LAREDO, TX. (KGNS )- While the future of SB- 4 bones in purgatory, those who work to secure the southwestern boundary are voicing some of their problems.
The National Border Patrol Council 2455’s leader, Hector Garza, believes that not enough is being done to protect our borders.
Garza believes that officials would gain from any extra work or assistance from nearby or state law enforcement as a result of this new law.
In the event that SB- 4 is enforced, Garza expressed his hope that the State of Texas did give officials the necessary training and instruction on how to carry the rules.
” We would anticipate that the State of Texas will follow the appropriate practices and laws to make sure that our peace soldiers in the State of Texas are properly trained if they are enforcing this fresh law that might not even go or get implemented,” Garza said. In the end, this would be Texas’s regulation, and as peace officials, we may not be able to decide whether to impose or not.
The coalition represents about 18, 000 Border Patrol agents and helps employees.
