‘ Our Democratic colleagues do n’t have an anti- Bibi problem. They have an extra- Israel trouble.’
On March 20, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky. ) criticized the Democrats, claiming that Israel is the party’s adversary rather than the Israeli Prime Minister.
In a statement on the Senate ground, Mr. McConnell claimed that Democrats are out of touch with the “overwhelming help” Israelis have for their military activities in Gaza in response to Hamas ‘ attack on the Jewish state on October 7, which resulted in the shooting and killing of Israelis, raping of women, and holding people prisoner. The Jewish community’s deadliest single-day slaughter since the Holocaust occurred on April 1.
Some popular American Democrats are becoming more vocal about their opinion that Israeli citizens and Israel’s unity government are untrue, he said.
Mr. McConnell’s feedback come nearly a fortnight after Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer ( D- N. Y. ) called for fresh elections in Israel in what appeared to be a firing line against Mr. Netanyahu, who has been criticized for the casualties in Gaza. The numbers cited are questionable because they were allegedly compiled by the Hamas-controlled Gaza Health Ministry.
Democrats ‘ egregious and dishonest attempts to influence Israeli domestic politics are not some easy or small critique of a certain prime minister, according to Mr. McConnell.
” They’re an affront to the very freedom of the state of Israel, a sovereign country, a robust republic, and one of America’s closest allies and friends”, he continued. ” Not a settlement, not a servant condition, not some appendage of our own home politics”.
Mr. Schumer said Mr. Netanyahu has “lost his method”.
After Oct. 7, Mr. Schumer said on March 14 that” the Netanyahu alliance no longer meets the needs of Israel.” ” The earth has changed—radically—since therefore, and the Jewish people are being stifled right now by a governing perspective that is stuck in the past”.
Mr. Netanyahu fired up at Mr. Schumer, labeling his call for a new vote” completely inappropriate”.
Mr. McConnell said Liberals like Mr. Schumer have a problem with the Jewish state, no its prime minister.
” Our Democratic colleagues do n’t have an anti- Bibi problem. They have an pro- Israel problem”, he said.
What else are we supposed to make of the fact that Democrats have jumped far behind the statement the Democratic leader made last week on the ground? continued Mr. McConnell.
The Biden administration has criticized the Jewish state in relation to the deaths in Gaza, which Hamas controls, despite its support for Israel’s efforts to oust Hamas. The presidency has attempted to provide Gazans with ongoing humanitarian aid, yet dropping help.
The presumed GOP presidential candidate, former president Donald Trump, who said on March 18 that Jews who vote Democrat are voting against their own interests and Israel, is the subject of Mr. McConnell’s thoughts.
” I really think they hate Israel”, said President Trump on the America First show with Sebastian Gorka, who quickly served in his leadership.
” I think they hate Israel”, he continued. ” And the Democrat group hates Israel”.
The comment made by President Trump were consistent with those made in his first year in office.
” I think if you vote for a Democrat, you are really, very hostile to Israel and to the Jewish people”, he said.
Lastly, Mr. McConnell’s comments come as the GOP- controlled House of Representatives is considering inviting Mr. Netanyahu to tackle Congress.
” It’s one of the things that we have in mind, and we may try to arrange for that”, House Speaker Mike Johnson ( R- La. ) aired to the media on March 20.
” We must show our support and cooperation for Israel right now in their most difficult situation, and we must do so in every manner that we can,” he said.
Mr. Johnson said he had a “lengthy talk” with Mr. Netanyahu on the morning of March 20.
The next time Mr. Netanyahu addressed Congress was in 2015, he issued a warning about the then-pending Iran nuclear deal. The deal, according to critics, did not actually stop Iran’s nuclear weapons program, nor did it target its another malicious activities, such as its assistance for terrorist organizations like Hamas and the regime’s ballistic missile program.
