House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul ( R- Texas ) was caught on a hot mic telling Rep. Darrel Issa ( R- Calif. ) to “go f- ck yourself” during a Tuesday meeting on Capitol Hill.
According to Fox News, McCaul’s comment came during a hearing that featured evidence from Gen. Mark Milley, past chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, regarding President Joe Biden’s government’s withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021.
Issa had overextended his time during the hearing, according to Fox News, by continuing to beg Milley questions. However, the senator continued to issue Milley after constantly telling the California Republican that his time had expired and that it was day for Rep. Mariannette Miller- Meek ( R- Iowa ).
” The Gentleman’s day is expired”, McCaul said. ” Ms. Miller- Meeks is recognized”.
Issa claimed that he had no idea how much time he had been given, but McCaul explained that the council was attempting to control each player’s remarks to five hours.
Issa therefore interjected,” I thought I was done! I thought it was the final action, Chairman”, which prompted McCaul to show the California agent,” Eh, come f- ck yourself”.
According to The Daily Caller, McCaul afterwards apologized for his heated audio remark to Issa, saying,” It was a long time, and I lost my temper”. He added,” That is uncharacteristic of me and I apologize to Mr. Issa, who I consider a friend”.

In an effort to save time for a defined presentation, a McCaul director told Fox News that the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee had restricted each commission player’s remarks to five minutes. Rep. Issa was over his day and continued to speak when the president turned him down and became upset, the director told Fox News.
Despite the tense interaction on Tuesday, Issa appeared to brush off the exchange, tweeting,” Hey @RepMcCaul — I’ve been called worse … and by people I do n’t like”!
