O’FALLON, Mo. ( TND ) — A U. S. senator from Missouri on Thursday slammed President Joe Biden’s strategies toward addressing the southern border in the wake of a “violent” stabbing in his state.

Sen. Eric Schmitt, R- Mo., told The National Desk ( TND ) a Sunday stabbing in O’Fallon, Missouri allegedly perpetrated by an illegal migrant was a familiar incident under the Biden administration.

” This is a tragic event, but unfortunately it’s an all too common thing now in Joe Biden’s America, where he has absolutely opened up our southern border”, the lawmaker remarked.

Jose Barrera Amaya allegedly stabbed his cousin, along with his sister’s nephew, in their tails at a laundromat. According to O’Fallon authorities, he chased the patients before attacking them. According to the police, ICE ( Immigration and Custom Enforcement ) has classified Amaya as an undocumented immigrant.

” These are bad people – many of them– who want to do terrible things in the United States”, Sen. Schmitt claimed.

According to Amaya’s partners, Amaya’s associates allegedly told police that he had killed people in Honduras before he entered the country. Schmitt, who formerly served as the Missouri Attorney General, claimed the believe was able to enter Eagle Pass, Texas because of a lack of preventative measures.

The senator told TND that “witnesses who know the assailant these claimed he was a machete-wielding criminal in Honduras, and these are the kinds of people who are entering our land now because there are no protection.”

Amaya crossed the southern boundary in 2021, according to O’Fallon authorities. Sen. Schmitt speculated that Biden’s change in immigration laws, including those implemented by past president Donald Trump, has given Amaya and others the opportunity to immigrate freely within the country.

” It’s a complete disaster. And, it’s a person- made hazard, and that person is Joe Biden because we had a stable borders in December of 2020″, the lawmaker said. What changed when Joe Biden arrived, involuntarily attempting to remove the accomplishments of President Trump. He opened up the southern boundary”.

Sen. Schmitt offered the Biden administration’s refrain from utilizing the Migrant Protection Protocols, which is also known as the” Live in Mexico” plan, and paroling of refugees as examples of its disrespect to legal immigration.

The federal government does a lot of things, he noted, but one of the issues it should do is uphold the independence of our nation and our borders. ” You have to have operational control of our southern border, and we do n’t right now”.

The senator claimed that Biden’s approach to the immigration system was different from that of previous Democratic and Republican leaders, who he claimed deported the majority of illegal immigrants crossing the border.

Sen. Schmitt remarked,” These are very extreme policy efforts by the Biden administration that have led to an open border.” Joe Biden figuratively has the power to change course, restore the professional commands under President Trump, and secure the border. He does n’t want to because he is captive to the left”.
