Drummond pleaded with state legislators to pass legislation that would enable local law enforcement to detain undocumented immigrants.
The Biden Administration is contesting a similar laws in Texas that the U.S. Supreme Court has rejected in the wake of the demand.
Last month, Texas law enforcement approved Senate Bill 4 that authorizes the imprisonment and deportation of immigrants who enter the country without authorization from Mexico.
In a statement, Drummond said the Supreme Court’s activity is a good development, but, the Biden Administration is pushing against efforts to secure the border.
Drummond said,” People health is my major problem. The effect of the world’s porous border is well known to Oklahoma state, state, and local law enforcement. The Biden Administration has failed to secure our borders, leaving us to suffer the consequences. Oklahoma must be allowed to defend our members if the federal government refuses to do its duty.
According to Drummond, the Supreme Court might set a new standard for condition law enforcement.
He added that he wants Oklahoma to be prepared for that day as well.
Following Drummond’s call for new policy, Oklahoma House Speaker Charles McCall announced he may file a measure to safe Oklahoma’s Frontier.
In a speech on Wednesday, McCall said:
Every state has been transformed into a frontier position as a result of the Biden Administration’s failed policies. Oklahoma is a state of law and order, and it should be the next spot illegal immigrants cross the border to live. For these reasons, and in light of recent court decisions regarding Senate Bill 4’s removal from Texas, I’m introducing legislation to safe Oklahoma’s southern neighbors in the same way. Oklahoma may be prepared to protect its borders from anyone who enters improperly.
