Rep. Alexandria Ocasio- Cortez ( D- N. Y. ) engaged in a fiery exchange with Hunter Biden’s past affiliate, Tony Bobulinski, during Wednesday’s prosecution reading.
In the midst of discussions about alleged indiscretions involving President Joe Biden, she argued that” RICO is not a crime.”
As Ms. Ocasio-Cortez pressed Mr. Bobulinski to inquire whether he had personally witnessed President Biden commit any legal acts, the heated back-and-forth broke out.
Is it your evidence that you witnessed President Joe Biden undertake a murder now? Ms. Ocasio- Cortez asked.
Mr. Bobulinski first responded,” Yes”, prompting Ms. Ocasio- Cortez to require detail.
How much time will I need to devote to it? Mr. Bobulinski asked, pushing up after being interrupted by the congressman, who urged him once again to name a certain violence.
” It is simple. You name the crime”, she said.
In his reply, Mr. Bobulinski referenced some possible violations, including” problem regulations, RICO, and crime, FARA”, objecting to rules such as the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act and the Foreign Agents Registration Acts.
In connection with their efforts to issue the effects of the 2020 elections, former president Donald Trump and several other co-defendants have been charged in a RICO event in Fulton County, Georgia.
Mr. Bobulinski claims that President Biden violated the RICO by engaging in financial fraud related to his company relations with his son Hunter.
But, Ms. Ocasio- Cortez pushed up, asserting that” RICO is never a murder”.
” What is the offense, sir, especially”? Ms. Ocasio- Cortez demanded.
” You asked me to answer the question. I answered the question”, Mr. Bobulinski bit ago, adding that she was “obviously no familiar” with RICO.
” Excuse me, sir. Pardon me, sir. Pardon me, sir”, Ms. Ocasio- Cortez said. ” RICO is not a crime. It is a group. What is the offense”?
As Mr. Bobulinski attempted to explain that RICO covers a range of acts, the conversation got heated. ” It’s a group of acts that you are then charged under”, he said.
This led Ms. Ocasio- Cortez to demand a specific act.
” Well, it’s funny, in this committee room—everyone’s not here—there are over 18 lawyers that went to law school. I’ll leave it up to you people to identify the statute”, he said.
As conflicts mounted, Ms. Ocasio- Cortez interrupted Mr. Bobulinski when suddenly, launching into a criticism of the Republican- led impeachment investigation.
According to Ms. Ocasio-Cortez, “what we are seeing here today is a continuation of the 15-month saga of the Republican majority lost in the desert,” accusing Republicans of pursuing the inquiry without providing any substantiated evidence of presidential wrongdoing.
” This resolution does not outline a high crime or misdemeanor. It’s not here”, Ms. Ocasio- Cortez added, referring to the impeachment inquiry resolution.
In light of the revelations that the FBI informant who testified about allegations involving President Biden and his son had been accused of providing false information, she added, the inquiry should be withdrawn.
Why is this committee pursuing action on the basis of false allegations? Ms. Ocasio- Cortez said.
President Biden has called on Congress to end the impeachment investigation and has denied any wrongdoing allegations.
On Wednesday, a hearing of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability was held that centered on President Biden’s role in his family’s business dealings.
Hunter Biden declined to attend, with his attorney, Abbe Lowell, citing a scheduling conflict and denouncing the hearing as a” carnival sideshow”. Last month, Hunter Biden sat for a closed-door deposition.
In addition to Mr. Bobulinski, two other former business associates of the first son—Devon Archer and Jason Galanis—were also invited to appear before the committee in person, but they also declined.
He said their goal, referring to Mr. Archer and Hunter Biden, “was to make billions, not millions”.
According to him,” Hunter Biden’s entire value for businesses came from his father, Vice President Joe Biden,” adding that businesspeople were drawn to his business because of his father, who was at the time, was his family name.
