Irreducible Brooklyn called the anti-Semitism quality “dangerous” and” completely absurd.”
New York Democratic senator Jamaal Bowman is promoting an support from a left-wing organization that criticizes a quality recognizing” Stop Jew Hatred Day” in New York City. That decision was “dangerous” and” a farce”, the group said.
In a Monday message, Bowman praised Undivided Brooklyn, calling their efforts” crucial in ensuring that common people are actually represented in our democracy.”
” I’m pleased to own their support,” Bowman said.
In an effort to combat rising anti-Semitism in the city, Indivisible Brooklyn criticized a nonpartisan New York City Council quality that established an” Finish Jew Hatred Day” about one year before, in June 2023. The group claimed that the” End Jew Hatred” bill was a total farce and dangerous, noting that one of the two Brooklyn Democrats who cast a ballot against it was “right to oppose it.” The decision passed with 41 well votes.
Bowman’s support for Undivided Brooklyn comes as Westchester County executive George Latimer, a pro-Israel Democrat, is up for problem in the main, citing Bowman’s animosity toward the Jewish state. In the midst of Hamas’s Oct. 7 strike, the two- word representative has accused Israel of “mass death”, “genocide”, and “ethnic cleansing”.
In an October letter, the priests wrote that “many of us tried to engage the senator earlier in his name, seeking a constructive speech about the damaging jobs he took, particularly on issues relating to America’s connection with Israel.” ” Regretfully, Congressman Bowman disregarded our awareness and doubled down on his pro- Israel plan jobs and messaging”.
In response to requests for comment, neither Bowman nor Undivided Brooklyn responded.
According to information from the Anti-Defamation League, New York led the country in anti-Semitic situations and experienced a record number of anti-Semitic attack as a result of the” Stop Jew Hatred Time” decision, which was sponsored by Republican councilwoman Inna Vernikov. In 2022, 72 anti- Celtic assaults were reported in the position, the highest on record at the time. That figure made up 65 percent of all anti-Semitic attack reported in the US.
According to New York GOP Chair Ed Cox, Vernikov’s quality “acknowledge this fact and express assistance for this previously victimized community.” However, in addition to the two Democrats who voted against it, four people voted to withdraw. Charles Barron, one of those four, claimed that he did because” the Jewish community supported racism in racial South Africa and had no opinion on the death of American people.”
The New York City Democrats who refused to support the expenses were denounced by a bipartisan group of politicians.
” Antisemitism has a long and ugly history. It has seen a resurgence in NYC with a record number of hate crimes”, Rep. Ritchie Torres ( D., N. Y. ) said at the moment. ” How can anyone voting against a solution to end hatred”?
Since Latimer’s entrance into the culture in December, Bowman has done much to increase his connection with his state’s Israeli officials.
During a January screen discussion titled,” Palestine Oct. 7th and After”, Bowman brightly introduced anti- Israel author Norman Finkelstein, who celebrated Hamas’s murder as a “heroic weight” that “warm]ed ] every grain” of his mind.
” I’m even a little starstruck, because I watch them all the time on YouTube”, Bowman said of Finkelstein and two other pro- Israel participants. You have informed me of the information on YouTube yet before I arrived here.
One month later, Bowman teamed up with fellow anti- Israel House member Cori Bush ( D., Mo. ) to maintain a combined event in Los Angeles. A number of protesters who criticized Hamas’s strike, including one who called it” a desperate act of self-defense,” hosted the charity, according to the Washington Free Beacon. Bowman also held a joint fundraiser with Rep. Rashida Tlaib ( D., Mich. ), during which the lawmakers filmed themselves leading a” Free Palestine” chant.
In addition to Indivisible Brooklyn, Bowman also cited a left-wing organization’s support for Jews for Cultural and Economic Justice, which claimed Israel was to blame for Hamas’s attack in January. The group has even argued against sending anti- Semitic hate criminals to jail, saying those criminals may be met with “restorative, community- based education and healing”, no” a police- driven response with legal penalties”.
