You can fool all of the individuals some of the day and some of the people all of the time, according to an old saying from Abraham Lincoln. However, you ca n’t fool everyone at the same time.
Joe Biden has run into the last word of that proverb as he tries to deceive all Americans into thinking that either he wants to address the border problems or that Republicans are to blame for it three years into his administration.
In his recent State of the Union address to Congress, Biden was praised as “fiery” and “energetic” by pleasant media outlets, but perhaps they had to say that the conversation was more campaign tree talk than national status report. The right-leaning Federalist claimed Biden lied 30 days. And yet Roll Call, which information site and media monitor AllSides calls “center“- leaning, truth- checked the speech and found it “included misleading claims on inflation, crime, fresh energy investments, wages”.
The most important of all Biden’s false or misleading statements was missed by Roll Call’s record of his misguided or false assertions: that his professional actions truly led to the border crisis.
Even so, the president’s off-color pronouncement that Jose Ibarra, the Cuban accused of killing college student Laken Riley, was an “illegal” angered the Left. Biden apologized for that faux pas in an appointment with MSNBC two days later, saying,” I may n’t had used’ improper,’ it’s’ undocumented.'”
But, in fact, Ibarra, while illegally in the U. S., was indeed documented. Biden’s Department of Homeland Security documented him when it paroled him into the United States “temporarily” and on a” case- by- case” basis, as the law requires, allowing him to enter the country with no criminal background check in his native country. Despite rumors that Ibarra has tattoos that suggest he was a part of a violent gang, which should have led to further investigation, this was untrue.
” I am not going to treat any of these people with disrespect”, Biden told Jonathan Capehart in the interview. ” They built this country”.
Presumably, by” these people”, Biden meant young men such as the Ibarra brothers. Obama would prefer that Americans ignore the distinction between the mass, illegal immigration of unvetted aliens that he has facilitated during his three years in office and the immigration that was actually authorized by Congress ( which did indeed contribute to the development of this country ).
” We have to control the border … and more orderly flow”, the president told Capehart.
Biden refers to the country’s ability to bring in as many inadmissible aliens as physically possible. This has been his policy from the very beginning of his administration, as this X compilation of Biden’s statements makes clear:
Despite the president’s falsehoods in his speech and protestations to Capeheart, however, a recent CBS poll showed 45 % of Americans thought the” situation at the U. S. Mexico border is a crisis”. That has the spin doctors working overtime.
Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas again defended Biden’s border policy on CNN, saying” This system has been broken for decades,” that the administration has been working on it from Day One, and that there is a magical “bipartisan solution” in Congress that Republicans are refusing to pass.
The man who has purposefully ignored existing laws for three years said,” Legislation is the enduring solution.” Mayorkas has created programs to mass-prison illegal aliens into the United States, which the law does not permit, and has refused to deport or return asylum seekers to Mexico as he is legally required to do.
Raul Ortiz, the head of the 21, 000- strong U. S. Border Patrol until summer 2023, recently said he had never once met with Biden or “border czar” Kamala Harris. Ortiz said “most definitely” the White House has sent “mixed messages” to would- be illegal migrants.
Not so. The Biden message has been clear and consistent: Enter the U. S. illegally, and you have a better than even chance of being allowed to stay indefinitely. You’ll even be able to pass those who attempt to legally navigate the immigration system and stand their way in the line. Cross without identification, and you can give yourself a new name, date of birth, and history that will never be verified.
The world heard Biden’s message, and they came. They are coming still, from a greater variety of countries, in greater numbers.
The White House’s communications strategy seems to be to blame Republicans in Congress for the results while keeping the borders open to please Joe Biden’s radical base. The American people will be aware that Donald Trump and his MAGA Republican friends are the only ones who are responsible for the border’s security, according to Biden during a border visit at the end of February.
However, as David Winston, a columnist for Roll Call,” stating the same things more forcefully wo n’t persuade voters.”
After three years, Biden has made his case. He wants billions in additional tax money to promote” smooth flow” of essentially unrestricted immigration by foreigners who violate executive power by extending it beyond its scope. Binding does not use the smokescreen he tried to conjure at the State of the Union to conceal it, but he is responsible for the consequences and will have to defend this position.
