Verdict: False
Trump claimed victory over ISIS in Syria in December 2018, nearly two years into his administration. The final stretch of ISIS- placed place was liberated by US- backed causes in March 2019.
Point Test:
Trump, the presumed GOP candidate, easily won the Florida Republican presidential primary, according to Politico.
During a March 5 talk, he claimed that he defeated ISIS in four days.
” For 20 times they were fighting ISIS. I got rid of ISIS in four days. I got rid of ISIS 100 %”, Trump said during the interview. ( RELATED: Image Claims TO Show US Building Naval Base In Gaza )
The state Trump defeated ISIS in four days is misleading. When Trump took office in January 2017, ISIS had taken over a large portion of Iraq and Syria, including the big city of Mosul, according to the article/timeline-the-rise-spread-and-fall-the-islamic-state” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener noreferrer”>Wilson Center. The challenge of Mosul, for example, raged from October 2016 to July 2017, ending six weeks into Trump’s presidency, according to a 2019 Military Review book content.
” After about five more months of extremely intense conflict, the alliance declared victory on 9 July 2017 from the site of the destroyed al- Nuri Mosque. Despite the charter, fighting in isolated pockets—predicted to past three days—continued for another two days”, the authors wrote.
Over 95 percent of ISIS- kept place was retaken by November 2017, more than 10 times into Trump’s president, per the Wilson Center. The Operation Inherent Resolve spokesperson said in a December 2017 post that” ISIS has lost almost ALL the place they again held”.
ISIS has lost almost ALL the country they previously held. More than 7.7 million people are now completely, but this does NOT indicate the end of the campaign. We know this army is as dynamic and experienced as it is cruel and evil. We may continue to support our companions &, stay pressure on ISIS.

Trump himself did not declare victory over ISIS in Syria until December 2018, nearly two years into his president, according to The Associated Press. In a December 2018 post, he stated that ISIS was the only reason why U. S. troops were in Syria.
We have defeated ISIS in Syria, my sole purpose for being there during the Trump Presidency.

Trump had afterwards consider in February 2019 that US- backed troops retook 100 % of the country ISIS held in Syria, according to CNN. The last stretch of ISIS territory was taken in Syria by the Syrian Democratic Forces ( SDF) and other allied troops in March 2019, NBC News reported.
Trump noted in many posts in October 2019 that his presidency defeated” 100 % of the ISIS Caliphate”. He later walked back that say during an October 2019 talk and said 70 % of ISIS was defeated, according to Roll Call.
The State Department issued a statement in March 2023 noting the third celebration of the regional fight of ISIS. ( RELATED: Instagram Video Makes Claim About Trump, Patton, MSNBC )
” Four years ago, the International Coalition to Fight Daesh/ISIS and its regional partners liberated the last stretch of territory controlled by Daesh/ISIS in Baghuz, Syria, a significant milestone in the continuous effort to ensure the extremist group’s sustained defeat”, the statement half reads.
While ISIS does not appear to hold any country, the extremist group is also effective. In January 2024, it claimed payment for a pair of attacks in Iran, according to The Wall Street Journal. It even took payment for a bomb that killed four people during a Catholic Mass in the Philippines, Al Jazeera reported.
