The U. S. Internal Revenue Service ( IRS ) recommended taxpayers seeking to extend their tax- filing deadline to do so via the agency’s Free File service while warning that 2023 taxes must be paid off by the due date.
The date for filing 2023 income this tax year is April 15. Taxpayers may obtain a six- fortnight delay to document, extending the date to Oct. 15. The IRS Free File system provides a “quick, quick way to record an extension”, the organization said in a push on March 21. ” All specific filers can use the system application to request an extension … regardless of income.
