One person was killed and five people wounded in a , shooting in Indianapolis , early Sunday, authorities said.
One of the maimed victims was an , off- duty officer who was working protection at a club, according to regulators. The official was expected to be released from a nearby hospital on Sunday evening and was in a stable condition.
The various four wounded victims , suffered quasi- life- threatening injuries , and were also in stable condition, native NBC affiliate WTHR reported. No suspects in captivity were mentioned by the government.
Authorities said” a commotion” began in a parking lot on the town’s east edge around 1: 30 a. m. Two commanders with the , Indianapolis Metro Police Department , were working protection in full dress at a local club and responded to the event.
The two cops , exchanged gunfire with at least one suspect, police said. During the shootout, one of the officers suffered a gunshot wound, and other responding officers offered medical care.
Four civilians were also , transported from the scene to a local hospital. They were identified only as two 45- year- old men, a 42- year- old man and a 33- year- old woman.
According to police, a man with gunshot wounds showed up at a nearby hospital shortly afterward. Despite treatment at the hospital, the man died. Investigators believe there was some connection to the parking lot shooting.
” We’re sorry that someone lost their life here tonight. Although we know that a long way lies ahead for him as he deals with the emotional impact of this situation, Indianapolis police chief Christopher Bailey said,” I’m also very happy that our officer did not sustain any significant injuries.” ” I’m proud of our response”.
Cops , recovered one gun, a pistol, from the scene.
