A Democratic strategist announced on Tuesday that he had dropped his lawsuit against American Conservative Union (ACU) brain Matt Schlapp for sexual assault and slander.
Carlton Huffman, 40, who accused Mr. Schlapp of physical power and slander while working for Hershell Walker’s 2022 Senate campaign, issued a statement and apology via a spokeswoman for Mr. Schlapp.
” The claims made in my claims were the result of a perfect mistake, and I regret that the complaint caused problems to the Schlapp home”, Mr. Huffman said, various sources reported.
His claim made reference to remarks made by Schlapps about him after he filed his complaint. ” The Schlapps have advised that the claims made about me were the result of a mistake, which was unfortunate”.
He continued,” Neither the Schlapps nor the ACU paid me something to refute my claims against them.”
Mr. Huffman sought$ 9.4 million in damages in his lawsuit against Mr. Schlapp, who chairs the Conservative Political Action Conference ( CPAC ).
During a campaign stop in October 2022, the political employee claimed Mr. Schlapp had “fondled” his thigh during a car journey up from a table to a hotel. Mr. Huffman claimed that Mr. Schlapp therefore invited him up to his room, which he declined.
Additionally, Mr. Huffman claimed that the pair allegedly defied him as a result of a plot to undermine him.
Mr. Schlapp maintained his innocence throughout. He and his family, Mercedes, issued a statement following Mr. Huffman’s statement on Tuesday.
” From the beginning, we asserted our sincerity. Our home was targeted by a left-wing internet that, despite the best efforts, is focused on destroying conservatives. But we come out of this difficult situation stronger as husband and wife, stronger as parents to our five sons, and stronger as companions to those who supported us,” their statement reads.
The few cited their Christian beliefs as a means of overcoming the experience.
We also learned that the departed is wagering a protracted conflict against those of us who continue to adhere to the rules of our 248-year history, including the independence that has endured, The left not longer places conflicts on the social show. Increasingly, they have gained a grip on the mainstream media, social media, and the legal structure which they use to try to silence, sorrow, and destitute Americans who have relative, yet proper beliefs”.
The couple noted that the experience” stand our ground and fight or the haters on the left will destroy every conservative and ultimately our nation” and that it had altered their perspective on the political landscape in the United States.
Later, two women who had been granted a restraining order made allegations of sexual assault against Mr. Huffman. Mr. Huffman denied the allegations.
” In my 35 years of practicing law, I have never seen such a case of malicious piling on by non- parties such as that which Matt and Mercedes Schlapp suffered”, said Ben Chew, an attorney for the Schlapps, in a statement.
We think it had a wide range of sources, starting with selective leaks from non-party insiders with chips on their shoulders to those who did not merit the trust of the Schlapps, and of course, some agenda-driven media who appeared all too eager to derail conservatives like the Schlapps.
Mr. Chew made hints that the Schlapps might bring legal action against the “non-parties.”
