In response to an executive order from President Joe Biden, an inside department mining agency sought to remove traditional language from its site and field offices in order to comply with the order.  ,
According to documents obtained by The Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project, employees of the Interior’s Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement are instructed to go through all firm communication and remove speech that precludes standard views on sex or relationship. ( The Daily Signal is Heritage’s news and commentary outlet. )
In order to maintain awareness to the LGBTQ population, Interior’s mining agency also sought new personnel and more resources from other departments. The company has headquarters in 36 states.
According to one report containing Biden’s senior order, the work includes refuting any preconceived notions that relationship is between one man and one woman, or that” a person’s identity is always either male or female.”
Biden’s Executive Order 13988, signed on Jan. 20, 2021, his first day in office, is titled” Preventing and Combating Discrimination on the Basis of Gender Identity or Sexual Orientation” . ,
Part 1 of the president’s professional order says:  ,
My administration’s plan is to avoid and overcome discrimination based on gender identity or sexual orientation, and to abide by Title VII and additional laws that prohibit discrimination based on gender identity or sexual preference. My administration’s plan even addresses overlapping forms of discrimination.
Biden’s get goes on to say in part 2:
The agency’s brain may, as soon as practicable, as acceptable, and in accordance with applicable laws, including the Administrative Procedure Act ( 5 U. S. C. 551 et al. ), decide whether to amend, halt, or cancel organization actions as necessary to fully utilize the laws that prohibit gender bias and the plan set forth in area 1 of this order, or to promulgate new agency actions.
In 2022, workers with Interior’s mining company answered a survey to help them spot possible offensive language.  ,
Do the people of the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation & Enforcement use stereotyped pronouns when asked, for example,” Does the speech of this activity use stereotyped adjectives”?
Technical conditions such as “manways” (used in tracking ) and “man- made” are considered disrespectful and should be replaced with negative words, the report explains.  ,
The survey, or schedule, allows for yes or no actions. It reads:” For any issues you describe in the previous item, how might they affect LGBTQIA + people differently than other people, or otherwise be inconsistent with the policy in Section 1 of EO 13988″ ? ,
It adds:” His/her’ is contradictory with the plan established in Section 1 of Entrepreneurship 13988″.
According to the documents, the miners agency needs more personnel and resources to change the signage at field offices to prevent insulting language from being posted.  ,  ,
” While conducting this evaluation process, substantial day has been invested by the]Office of Communications ] team users and other personnel”, a follow- up record in October 2022 says. It adds:
Action and Strategies to comply with EO 13988 ( to review and update signage in regional and field offices for people who might be LGBTQIA+ ) will require additional staff, resources, and collaboration with other OSMRE administrative office ( OA ) personnel.
The Daily Signal requested comment from the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement, but a spokesperson for the organization did n’t arrive until after publication.  ,
