
NEW HAVEN, Conn. ( WTNH) — A New Haven man faces up to five years in prison after admitting to lying during citizenship interviews about knowing terrorists, according to officials.
Mohamed Najm Kamash, also known as Mohamed Najm Mohamed Ali Kamash, 33, immigrated to the U. S. from Iraq in 2014, according to an statement from the U. S. Department of Justice and the FBI. He lied during an interview in August 2021, according to authorities, and said that he did n’t know anyone involved with a terrorist organization, and was n’t related to any involved in one, either.
He admitted guilt on Monday in a citizenship case. He has been released on a$ 250, 000 bond.
His sentencing time has not been scheduled.
