The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District ( CFTOD ), Disney’s new governing body, appears to be coming to an end as a result of Disney’s legal battles with it.
The company agreed to drop two effective lawsuits against CFTOD after replacing the original Disney-appointed Reedy Creek Improvement District Board more than a year ago when the CFTOD Board of Supervisors voted in favor of a colony offered by the company on March 27.
In a last effort to preserve its autonomy, Disney even agreed to acknowledge that the eleventh-hour growth deal they reached with the Reedy Creek Improvement District was invalid, space, and illegal.
In trade, among other concessions, CFTOD may lose its counterclaims against Disney, the city would understand Disney’s possession of permits issued by the South Florida Water Management District, the Army Corps of Engineers, and the Florida Game and Fresh Water Commission, and would not inhibit on them, and communicate a development agreement….
