Due to a new initiative from the Daviess County Health Department, the growing immigrant community in Daviess County will be able to obtain membership.
A pair of changes to the payment plan, including a$ 350 price for an immigration real, have been approved by the Daviess County Commissioners.
” That is for everyone. According to Daviess County Commissioner Michael Taylor,” I think providing this service to our state and the surrounding counties will be a wonderful service to help people become citizens of the United States.” There are many Dominican migrants living here. They are eligible to be Americans, but this should be a benefit to them.
Local health authorities point out that Dr. Merle Holsopple, the mind of the health ministry, has recently earned his legal doctors documentation. A doctor must have the title before they can authorize the necessary emigration checkup.
” We have not taken any immigration exams in the past, and Dr. ( Merle ) Holsopple applied for and received a civil surgeon certification through the American immigration services,” said Kathy Sullender, a public health nurse from Daviess County. The only individuals who can take the emigration exams are legal surgeons, according to Wikipedia, who can change a migrant immigrant to a permanent resident or whatever position they want to change.
” There’s a great need in our society. We’ve been sending citizens to Jasper for a while, but now he’s been booked out months in advance. We hope that this will reduce the amount of travel needed by refugees here as well as our individual needs for recording people and assisting them with wellness care, according to Kelli Streeter, the superintendent of the Daviess County Health Department. ” We have a number of newcomers who are on the parole system. This is necessary for them to continue their immigration, and Dr. Holsopple’s receipt of those protections may help.
Southern Indiana has a small population of legal surgeries, which means there are only a few of them, which has caused a compulsion to visit Daviess County for services.
It was posted online just a few hours after Dr. Holsopple was granted privileges, and the same time we started receiving calls from people. It is that needed because there is such a large expat people”, said Streeter. ” We are going to launch the doctor in the middle of April, and he is already booked.”
” This may involve people who are not from Daviess County. Every morning, I get calling for this. It takes time to get this procedure done and everyone is needing the similar solutions”, said Sullender. It is extremely necessary to assist people in completing their rank change.
In another company, the commission agreed to take bids on a new path line system. Additionally, they made an effort to promote the outdated salt building in the town’s east end once more and announced that this will be the last time the county will immediately participate in a dust control program this year.
Because of how long our bridge office spends on the job, we are leaving. It takes two months of our development time to complete sand control for 150- 160 residents. We need 33, 000 more people to think about and keep the county’s roads running,” said Commissioner Taylor. We will have to certify any contractor who is constructing our roads, and we will have some supervision over upcoming private dust control projects.
The commissioners approved the application for a$ 319, 000 Department of Corrections grant to run the program, and gave the executive director of Daviess County Community Corrections Laura Petty the go-ahead to do so.
The commissioners earlier this month declared a local disaster related to flash flooding, allowing the Daviess County Emergency Management Agency to request state-of-federal disaster aid.
” The flash flood that occurred a few weeks ago to the hospital caused quite a bit of damage. It flooded the operating room. It also flooded a number of basements and some homes”, said Taylor. ” Hopefully, the local declaration will lead to state or federal declarations that will assist with some of that. This is one step in the process”.
Residents who were affected by those floods are advised to report the damage to the 211 system by the end of the month.
Following the meeting, the Commissioners took a tour of the courthouse.
The top floor of the courthouse has been completely destroyed, and they are returning with the HVAC, putting it into the ceiling, and installing metal framing there. The second floor is 90 % gutted, almost all of the asbestos is out. They are working on the basement. They have got a lot done in a short period of time”, said Taylor. ” I am very pleased with the progress. It’s a big crew there and they are go- getters”.
