
The Immigration Reform Task Force from the National Association of Counties ( NACo ) visited El Paso, Texas, to see how immigration policies are affecting border communities.
According to El Paso County Commissioner and Chairperson of NACo’s Immigration Reform Reform Task Force, members of NACo and state recipients of FEMA Shelter and Services Program funds visited the global bridge in city El Paso, the Sacred Heart Church immigrant house and the Anapra wall on the boundary wall near Sunland Park, as well as a migratory processing center in east El Paso and the County’s Migrant Support Services Center on Wednesday.
The border vacation is intended to demonstrate to individuals how the state is working with federal companions and the nonprofit market to address issues involving immigrant shelter, food, healthcare, vehicles, and other services, according to the NACo.

County leaders have a great opportunity to learn about the complicated immigration landscape and observe practices in practice, according to Stout. The trip may notify county leaders ‘ efforts to advance immigration reform and highlight how counties can use international partnerships to address issues.
County officials of national rewards programs and frontline services of public health and safety solutions for all residents, according to NACo, are key players in immigration. They are also directly impacted by federal immigration policies and practices.
After the trip, NACo members hope to share what they saw, learned, and first-hand with Congress members, administration officials, and other federal partners.
On Thursday, the tour will visit two migrant shelters in Juarez.
