Authorities in New York City are supporting a pilot programme that distributes prepaid debit cards to illegitimate immigrants.
The state’s trial work of the program has been defended by the governor, deputy mayors, and other officials, who claim that the prepaid cards are meant to be used to use to buy essential supplies rather than silly handouts.
” There is no free cash. These are not ATM accounts. You ca n’t take cash out”, said Deputy Mayor Fabien Levy at a press conference, according to Politico.

The pilot programme is just beginning, with plans to increase to 115 people in the coming months. Simply 10 families have received the debit cards.  ,
” We may take a look at it after six months and see what’s working and what’s not”, Deputy Mayor Anne Williams- Isom said, according to the Politico statement.
Mobility Capital Finance, based in New Jersey, and the software made a$ 53 million offer. According to the New York Post, families with two under-five children will be able to receive$ 350 per week on the cards.
