During the 2024 White House Easter Egg Roll, President Joe Biden joked about his time and said he is optimistic about the future of the United States.
Biden quipped that he was a student of Rutherford B. Hayes, who began the tradition, during the occasion, which has been held every Easter Monday since 1878.
After Congress forbade egg-rolling at the Capitol, Hayes offered the White House basis, which has since been held on the grounds of the executive mansion.
” This is the person’s house, and over 40, 000 persons will be here, the largest always”, Biden told NBC’s Al Roker. We simply enjoy revealing the location and letting citizens in. Because they own it, this is their position, and it always makes me feel good to look out there and discover ordinary Americans really walking about, looking at what’s happening.
Both during the Roker exam and in his public comment from a White House ledge, Biden said he’s positive for America’s potential.
” It’s time]to] pray for one another, to appreciate the blessings we have in one another”, the senator said. I’ve always had a better sense of optimism about America than I do now.
The South Lawn and Ellipse transformed into an outdoor class with research projects, a physical education class, a reading nook, a reptile show, and information about the solar eclipse that will occur on April 8. First lady Jill Biden promoted the egg roll’s style of “EGGucation.”
” I’m a teacher, but I love any day we can change the White House into a class. And that’s what we’re doing today”, Jill Biden said. The South Lawn is becoming our area and learning facility. And there’s so much to learn. Talk to a history in the reading alcove. Explore place. … I’m hoping you all learn something new now. But most important, I hope you all have fun”.
