Voyager Space and Palantir Technologies, both from Denver, have signed an agreement to function up to enhance national security features in the commercial storage space.
A memorandum of understanding that was approved in February aims to meld Palantir’s software technology and data analysis with Voyager Space’s more than three decades of space investigation and operations. The company’s clients include the defense, law protection and health care companies.
” We are thrilled to work with Palantir, exploring a different variety of systems and software as we operate in a professional place ecosystem”, Marshall Smith, Voyager’s chief technology officer, said in a speech.
Shyam Sankar, CTO of Palantir, said in a speech that the relationship represents a dedication to “advancing the frontiers of world commerce, legal, and regional security capabilities” while reaffirming industry’s role in bringing top- edge technology to space exploration and security.
Voyager is one of the few businesses chosen by NASA to design and develop professional storage channels because of its history of working on the International Space Station. In 2030, the ISS is anticipated to become retired. China’s Tiangong space station is the only other one already in operation.
” We are the only secret company in the world with real property that we can own on the ISS. Everything else is owned by a country- state”, Matthew Kuta, Voyager president and inc- chairman, said in an interview.
The company has a study area, the Bishop entrance, and the Bishop entrance, which allows for the release of satellites and other items into space, and allows for activity between the station’s interior and space. Kuta said Voyager has conducted 1, 300 expeditions to the ISS and deployed more than 340 spacecraft.
A place place may offer a sizable power supply for a business like Palantir to process information collected in space, whether it’s the International Space Station or Starlab, the place being developed by Voyager and Airbus Defense and Space.
” The wiring is kind of jammed up, but there is a lot of data being collected in place. All that information is extremely challenging to transfer back from space. The valves are filled, essentially”, Kuta said.
Working with a business like Palantir, which is well known for its machine learning and artificial intelligence, would make it easier to process information in place, making it easier for information to be transmitted to Earth in less time.
” At Voyager, we have a lot of history in space station job, exploration work, the design and development”, Kuta said. ” But one place where it made sense to work with a company like Palantir was definitely on the program side.”
Kuta stated that Palantir’s function will generally be focused on regional security, which could include allies and partners like NATO.
” Voyager and Palantir have already done joint proposals to potential customers”, Kuta said.
Some of Palantir’s users have raised concerns at times as a result of the company’s relocation from California to Denver in 2020.  , Its labor for the U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement , has been criticized by advocates for refugees ‘ right even though the organization disputed the idea that its application helps in persecution.
Some doctors, organizations and members of Parliament raised private concerns when Palantir , was awarded a contract in 2023 , to support reform the tech program of Britain’s state- run health service.
In response to a question about the controversy, Kuta responded,” I think the key is to understand who the underlying customer for Starlab is.” ” The underlying customer for Starlab is NASA, not the DOD ( Department of Defense )”.
