Verdict: Misleading
The United States and Ukraine have denied having any part in the assault. The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria ( ISIS ) has claimed responsibility, with U. S. intelligence supporting the claim.
Point Test:
More than 130 people were killed and dozens more injured when several terrorists set fire to Crocus City Hall, a well-known music venue in Moscow, according to The New York Times ( NYT).
The Russian state has blamed Ukraine, the U. S. and Great Britain for the assault, according to BBC News. For instance, FSB producer Alexander Bortnikov blamed the three countries on March 26, Reuters reported.
This state lacks information. ISIS took payment for the assault, according to the NYT. ISIS- affiliated press released images from the assault, according to Meduza. According to the report, the extremists in the new film match the gunmen’s video that was posted on social media during the attack.
Additionally, according to The NYT, the men detained by Russian officials appeared to have matched the extremists in the ISIS film that was made public.
They carried out the attack, according to the similar clothing and other related details. For instance, a picture of one of the suspects being detained shows him wearing a light colored T-shirt with a special symbol on the left shoulder and pants with a Boss tag: those details correspond to what a gunman was wearing in the advertising footage of the attack, which the NYT reported.
Experts told Test Your Point that while it was difficult to prove a bad, there was no proof that it was true. S, Ukrainian and American presence.
According to Robert English, an associate professor of global relations and the University of Southern California’s director of Northern European Research, “publicly available evidence suggests that this state is incorrect.”
” We have not seen any files, connections, or other materials that connection Ukraine to the business, funding, training, or assault planning of the attack in Moscow on 22 March”, English said in an email to Test Your Point.
English warned, though, it was” not proof that Ukraine, the UK and US did not , have something to do with the attack”. ( RELATED: Donald Trump Claims He Defeated ISIS In 4 Weeks )
According to English, “it is nearly impossible to prove a negative, and we do know that Ukraine has carried out numerous bombings and assassinations with at least the tacit approval of the U.S. and the U.K.” The Washington Post reported that a group of Ukrainians and former senior Ukrainian officers were to blame for the attack.
” However Moscow’s description of a complex months- long recruitment, training, and execution mission on Russian soil still seems quite farfetched. It is still much more likely that ISIS carried out the terror attack on March 22 without providing any solid proof,” added English.
Mark Cancian, a senior adviser at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, told Check Your Fact in an email that “it’s hard to prove a negative”.
” We can say that there is no evidence produced of U. S. or U. K. involvement. The Russians should be able to produce such evidence if it exists, according to Cancian, because they have the alleged gunmen in custody. ” Contestable evidence of Ukrainian involvement includes allegations that the gunman were heading to Ukraine,” the statement reads.
The U. S. government has denied the Russian government’s claims. ISIS was cited as the cause of an email from the State Department on March 26.
ISIS is held responsible solely for this attack, according to the statement. As we said in a statement on Saturday, we strongly condemn ISIS’s deadly terrorist attack in Moscow”, the spokesperson said.
In an email to Check Your Fact on March 26, a Pentagon spokesman added that the claim “was false.”
Max Miller, the State Department’s chief spokesman, also denied that Ukraine was involved in the attack during a March 25 press briefing.
” With respect to the first question, there was no Ukrainian involvement – period.  , You’ve seen the Ukrainian Government make that clear?  , And of course, with respect to these statements the Russians have offered zero evidence, because there is no evidence of Ukrainian involvement”, Miller said.
According to The Associated Press, Putin claimed that the terrorists who staged the concert hall made an advance attempt to cross the Ukrainian border using a “window.” According to AFP, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko claimed that the terrorists attempted to flee to Belarus first but were unable to do so due to border checkpoints.
” That’s why there was no way they could enter Belarus. They saw that. That’s why they turned away and went to the section of the Ukrainian- Russian border”, Lukashenko said, per AFP.
In a tweet from March 26, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron also rebuffed the assertion. ( RELATED: Image Misidentifies Moscow Terrorist Attack Suspect )
Russia’s claims about the West and Ukraine in relation to the Crocus City Hall attack are total nonsense.
We support US assertions that Daesh bears the sole responsibility for this attack, which are supported by US statements.

“Russia’s claims about the West and Ukraine in relation to the Crocus City Hall attack are total nonsense. We support U.S. statements which make clear that Daesh bears sole responsibility for this attack,” Cameron said in the tweet.
Russia’s investigative committee claimed to have established a link between Ukraine and the Moscow terrorists, according to TASS. The committee was looking into the alleged involvement of Ukraine, the United States, and the West in terrorist attacks against Russia, which there is no evidence, according to The Moscow Times.
Reuters reported that Iran emailed Russia in March about a significant terrorist threat, citing three unidentified people. In response to this reporting, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Reuters,” I do not know anything about this.”
Tehran” shared information with Moscow about a potential large terrorist attack inside Russia that was discovered during interrogations of those detained in connection with deadly bombings in Iran,” according to a source who spoke to Reuters.
Kyrylo Budanov, Ukraine’s head of military intelligence, said that Russia was aware of preparations for a terrorist attack since February 15, according to the Kyiv Independent. Additionally, Budanov added that the accusations of Russian involvement with Ukraine were “nonsense.”
Check Your Fact reached out to the Russian and Ukrainian embassies in Washington, D.C., for comment, and will update this article if responses are received.
