Lawmakers in Washington and 10 of their coworkers wrote a letter to senior multiculturalism and homeland security officials on Friday, pleading for an end to the use of solitary confinement in immigration incarceration.
Sens. Patty Murray, Maria Cantwell, and their coworkers urged the acting U.S. immigration and customs police acting producer Patrick Lechleitner to find more effective alternatives to solitary confinement. Researchers have discovered that Tacoma’s privately operated federal immigration detention facility allows solitary confinement for more than the majority of other ICE features.
