Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has questioned President Joe Biden’s ability to lead the nation after the leader denied declaring March 31 as” Transgender Day of Awareness” in support of transgender individuals.
At a gathering at the Greater Miami Expressway Agency on April 1st, Mr. DeSantis
said,” Wait a minute, he
said that did n’t happen, he
said he did n’t do that,” which raises the question of whether or not he is being truthful with the public or whether or not he really did n’t know what was happening.
On March 29, President Biden declared March 31 as” Transgender Day of Visibility”, coinciding with Easter Sunday, sparking an outcry among Republicans and conservatives.
The president praised appointing transgender people to management positions in his leadership and ending a ban that made them uninvited from serving boldly in the military, saying that his presidency wanted to convey that transgender people are a part of American society.
In his statement, the president also touted his government’s efforts to make public service more attainable for trans Americans, including making official documents like passports more “inclusive” by including an X as the sex symbol.
However, on April 1, President Biden
dismissed the criticism, saying,” I did n’t do that”, in response to a question from the press about him issuing the proclamation.
The Florida Governor raised questions about who is running the United States at the function as part of promoting fresh toll reduction efforts.
” Who’s running the president? Is it a bunch of woke, 20- anything- year- ancient White House employees? So I do n’t know who’s in charge. the fact that he does n’t recognize it. Either way, it’s negative”, Mr. DeSantis said. ” Either he’s not being honest, or he really did n’t have anything to do with it. It’s the most critical, for Christians, trip on the timeline. And what Biden did, I think, was ridiculous”, he added.
Criticism
The statement sparked outcry in the general public, with criticism from republicans and the GOP, including from the Trump campaign, which also opposed the White House’s recommendations for a children’s Easter egg craft design competition. Proposals that included “religious images” or “overtly spiritual themes” were prohibited by these instructions.
According to Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt, the White House’s policy of prohibiting children from submitting spiritual egg styles for their Easter Art Event is “appalling and disrespectful.” We request an explanation from Joe Biden’s sluggish battle and White House for the millions of Americans who believe the resurrection of Jesus Christ will be remembered for one reason only.
House Speaker Mike Johnson ( R- La. ) likewise condemned the statement, calling it “outrageous”.
On March 31 on
X, Mr. Johnson wrote,” The Biden White House has betrayed the fundamental principle of Easter, which is the resurrection of Jesus Christ.” ” Banning spiritual wisdom and tradition—while at the same time proclaiming Easter Sunday as’ Transgender Day ‘—is absurd and horrible. The people of America are taking note.
In response to Mr. Johnson’s censure of the statement, President Biden said that “he’s completely uninformed”.
Mr. Johnson replied on social media platform
X with a picture of the government’s statement, pointing out a noted part of the charter. Mr. Johnson subsequently asked,” This is you, Joe Biden”?
However, White House press secretary Karine Jean- Pierre pushed up against the adverse criticism, calling it “dishonest” and “hateful”.
” On March 31, Transgender Day of Visibility is marked. And as we all know, Easter is observed on various Saturday each month for those who are familiar with the timeline and how it operates. And this year, Transgender Visibility Day also happened to coincide with it. And so that is the easy reality”, she said.
According to last year’s Pew Research Center
survey, about 1.6 percentage of U. S. people identified themselves as trans or nonbinary. Younger people identify as trans or make more frequently than older people do. Among people under 30, 5.1 percent said they are trans or genderfluid, including 2 percent as trans people or transgender people and 3 percentage as nonbinary.
A growing proportion of Americans believe that a person’s identity may get determined by their sex at birth, according to a recent
survey conducted by the Pew Research Center. Sixty percent said thus in 2022, compared with 56 percent in 2021 and 54 percentage in 2017.
