A group of House Republicans are considering a crackdown on some legal immigration routes to the United States, citing “exploitation and victimization” of the program.
Rep. Eli Crane, R- Ariz., a part of the traditional House Freedom Caucus, introduced a invoice called the” Nuclear Family Priority Act” aimed at limiting who can get household- sponsored immigrant visa. Critics refer to the family-sponsored system’s abuse as” network migration.”
” Unlimited network movement has allowed for the unforgivable exploitation and abuse of our immigration system. I’m delighted to offer this act that will help restore the rule of law, avoid our country from being overburdened, and boost our national protection”, Crane told Fox News Digital.

” I’m delighted to former representative Jody Hice for introducing this bill next Congress and to the cosponsors who joined me in introducing it this Congress,” Crane said.
If passed, the legislation would end the extended, non-nuclear home visa categories and impose a cap on applicants for family-sponsored visas only, which are typically made up of just their spouses and their children.
According to the National Immigration Forum, it would also lower the current 480, 000 annual cap for new family-sponsored permits.
Visa applicants who want to worry for their American-born parents may be considered in specific situations.
The bill is backed by GOP hardliners, including House Freedom Caucus Chairman Bob Good, R- Va., who is among its cosponsors. Others include Reps. Andy Biggs, R- Ariz., Matt Rosendale, R- Mont., Bill Posey, R- Fla., Mary Miller, R- Ill., and Andy Ogles, R- Tenn.
According to the State Department, family immigration visas are separated into two main categories: immediate relatives and family preference.
The person applying for a visa would have immediate relatives, including their spouses, children, or parents. The Department’s website states,” The number of immigrants in these categories is not limited each fiscal year”.
Crane’s bill would remove parents from that list, according to text obtained by Fox News Digital.

Family preference refers to” specific, more distant, family relationships with a U. S. citizen and some specified relationships with a Lawful Permanent Resident ( LPR )”, including parents, children, siblings and spouses. Only spouses and unmarried children are permitted as permanent residents. Immigrant visas in this category are capped, according to the State Department.
People overstaying their visas after entering the United States through a family member have been criticized by critics of the system, who claim that this is helping to fuel the ongoing migrant crisis.
According to the Federation for American Immigration Reform, a conservative-leaning think tank, there are up to 16.8 million illegal immigrants in the United States.
