In a heartfelt statement released on Tuesday, Representative Raúl M. Grijalva ( D- AZ ) has publicly disclosed his recent cancer diagnosis. The news came after what started out as a persistent cough, which was originally thought to be bronchitis, led to further medical research revealing a more serious underlying problem.
” After additional tests and scanning, my doctors discovered that I have malignancy”, said Grijalva in a statement.  ,” This treatment has been difficult to process, but I am comfortable in the robust course of treatment that my medical staff has developed, and I’ve begun my journey to combat this malignancy”, said Grijalva.
Grijalva has established himself as a notable left-wing figure in Congress by co-chairing the Congressional Progressive Caucus from 2009 to 2019. During the 2016 Political presidential primary, he backed Bernie Sanders, the Senator from Vermont, and in the 2020 major, he supported Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts.
” My parliamentary business remains open and the many service we provide for our components continue continuous”, Grijalva continued. I communicate with my team frequently, and I keep working as my condition progresses. I take the responsibility of representing the people of Arizona very critically, and it is a privilege to do so.

He concluded,” I am grateful to my relatives, friends and doctors for their help, and I am working hard to get good and returning to business as usual as soon as I am ready. I appreciate your consideration, well wishes and appreciation for my mother’s protection during this time. I wish people a strong fight against cancer and my heart goes out to those who are battling it.
At 76, the issue of whether Grijalva may temporarily leave his parliamentary position in Washington, D. C., remains available. Such a determination had bar him from voting on policy, following the 2023 reduction of proxy voting by Republicans. Grijalva’s lack could significantly affect the Republican public’s capacity to move bills, given their small lead.
Since 2003, Grijalva has been the official for Arizona’s third legislative area. The area includes portions of Tucson and much of the eastern portion of the state. Grijalva has been a part of some congressional boards and is known for his campaigning on environmental issues, knowledge, and medical.
He has participated in efforts to reform emigration laws and is a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. Grijalva’s labor in Congress has emphasized social justice, economic security, and the rights of Aboriginal cultures and minority communities.
