Being a part of the Roman Catholic Church and pro-life is more important to me than being a documented Democrat.
According to his Christian beliefs and opinions on abortion, Nebraska state senator Mike McDonnell has announced that he will switch from Democrat to Republican in his group.
Mr. McDonnell made the announcement in an April 3 speech to local media sources, citing the Democrat Party’s antagonism to his pro- lifestyle approach.
” When I ran for election in 2020 I was Pro- Life”, he said, adding that he’s Catholic and recalling that in 2016 he ran as a pro- living member for Nebraska’s congressional District 5.
” I have asked the Democrat Party to honor my spiritual based Pro- Life place”, he continued. Instead, they have instead decided to punish me for being” Pro-Life” over the past year.
According to Mr. McDonnell, the state Democratic Party voted to criticize him for his pro-life beliefs, while Douglas County Democrats voted no to seat him as a member and never reveal party solutions.
He claimed that his commitment to the Roman Catholic Church and to pro-life was more important to him than being a documented Democrat, adding that he would soon make the transition to the GOP.
In response to Mr. McDonnell’s change, the Nebraska Democratic Party responded by saying,” Respect” for his work with the group while refuting that his pro-life beliefs had anything to do with the condemnation vote.
In the speech, Nebraska Democratic Party Chair Jane Kleeb pledged to fight for the right of the LGBTQ community in the wake of reproductive freedom.
” Our choice to rebuke Sen. McDonnell was not about him being a pro- existence Catholic. Our choice was based on our party’s reaffirming its main principles, which included preventing politicians from taking specific health choices and protecting women’s ability to make health choices, she continued.
Ms. Kleeb continued,” Respecting Senator McDonnell’s continued work on behalf of unions and his commitment to protecting our state’s good electoral vote program.”
Change to Winner- Takes- All?
Nebraska Gov. On April 2, Republican Governor Jim Pillen showed he was willing to support legislation that could possibly stop Joe Biden from capturing one of the state’s electoral votes. He did this by backing a provincial “winner-takes-all” program, which is likely to encourage former US president Donald Trump.
Unlike every other U. S. position, just Nebraska and Maine attribute Electoral College votes by region. The largest city in the state, Omaha, has a parliamentary area that centers around it that has occasionally favored Democratic presidential hopefuls, including in 2020.
But, President Trump’s three electoral vote, which were easily won by the GOP-dominated status in both 2016 and 2020, had probably all go to the state.
President Trump supported his tweet, and he described the governor’s support for the measure as “very smart.”
” Governor Jim Pillen of Nebraska, a very smart and popular Governor, who has done some really great things, came out today with a very strong letter in support of returning Nebraska’s Electoral Votes to a Winner- Take- All System”, President Trump wrote on Tuesday.
” Most Nebraskans have wanted to go back to this system for a very long time, because it’s what 48 other States do—It’s what the Founders intended, and it’s right for Nebraska”, he continued. ” Thank you Governor for your bold leadership. Let’s hope the Senate does the right thing. Nebraskans, respectfully ask your Senators to support this Great Bill”!
In 2020, President Joe Biden won Nebraska’s Omaha- based congressional district, giving him one electoral vote. With nearly 60 % of the vote, President Trump won the state.
Some analysts have claimed on social media that President Biden would have a problem if the Nebraska bill is passed because he would n’t have a clear path to 270 electoral votes to become president.
