Congress Demands Answers From Scientist With Close Ties to China, Fauci

Peter Daszak’s team funneled funds from the U. S. state to a Chinese laboratory.

Leading Republican announced on April 4 that a scientist with close ties to the Foreign lab in the same area where the first cases of COVID-19 were discovered will testify before Congress and answer inquiries.

On May 1, Peter Daszak, chairman of the New York-based EcoHealth Alliance, will provide answers to questions at a common reading. The speech from EcoHealth Alliance confirmed Mr. Daszak’s intention to speak.

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash. ) and other members said there will be a disconnect between Mr. Daszak’s previous testimony to Congress and messages from him and colleagues that were discovered late last year.

On November 14, 2023, Mr. Daszak informed members that the University of North Carolina ( UNC ) was going to conduct risky experiments on coronaviruses that EcoHealth had suggested.

But, Mr. Daszak stated in feedback on a review of the plan that was obtained under the Freedom of Information Act that” we can then manage who does what specific function, and I believe that a lot of these tests can be done in Wuhan as well.”

Mr. Daszak’s party has recently funneled millions of dollars from the U. S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, which was headed at the time by Dr. Anthony Fauci, to the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Some experts claim that the applicable evidence suggests COVID- 19 came from the Chinese test, which is located in the same area where the first cases of COVID- 19 were recorded.

In the unearthed materials, Mr. Daszak wrote that he was” trying to downplay the non- US focus of this proposal so that DARPA does n’t see this as a negative”. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency rejected the proposal that had been submitted.

People claimed that Mr. Daszak’s statement “appears to become significantly inconsistent with your evidence assuring the committees that the proposed labor was planned to be done entirely at UNC.”

Additionally, they claimed that Mr. Daszak claimed behind closed doors that Wuhan scientists were using the same biosafety standards as Americans. However, it was pointed out that recently released documents revealed a colleague of Mr. Daszak wrote about the potentially risky work being conducted under biosafety level 2 conditions as opposed to the biosafety level 3 conditions that are standard domestically. ” US researchers will likely freak out” if that were the case, Ralph Baric, a UNC researcher, wrote.

The DEFUSE draft’s” comments are alarming the disconnect between your statements and …comments. These revelations undermine both your credibility and any supporting claims you made in your transcripted interview. The committees have a right and an obligation to safeguard the accuracy of the testimony presented during a transcripted interview. We invite you to correct the record”, Ms. Rodgers, chairwoman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, and other members told Mr. Daszak.

EcoHealth Alliance said that the announcement by Congress included” several inaccurate allegations” about Mr. Daszak’s previous statements.

Mr. Daszak “looks forward to answering the committee’s questions, clarifying the areas of misunderstanding, and informing them about the vital research that EcoHealth Alliance conducts globally”, it said.

An inspector general speculates that the hearing might address how EcoHealth Alliance has been failing to notify the government about the results of testing at the Wuhan lab for almost two years. The results of experiments on a modified coronavirus revealed a virus that increased in potency. According to experts, the findings demonstrated that the work being funded by the United States met the accepted definition of gain-of-function work, refuting claims made by Dr. Fauci and others.

EcoHealth Alliance has repeatedly defended its work, despite the fact that it said it would take the inspector general’s suggestions to make sure sub-awards are in line with federal guidelines.
