On Friday, independent national candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. released a statement regarding the January 6 trials, saying that while violent rioters deserved to be punished, some prosecutions of non-violent protesters were overwhelming.
Kennedy’s speech undercuts the Democratic Party’s efforts to portray the 2024 poll as a “defense of politics” and a referendum on the consequently- called “insurrection”, which Democrats blame on previous President Donald Trump.
Kennedy’s speech reads as follows:
One of the most contentious social issues on January 6 is. In order to understand the function and what transpired, I am listening to people of various beliefs on it. Every part needs to be heard.
It is obvious that many of the protest on January 6 does have started out as a protest before becoming violent. Some people view it as an insurrection because it occurred with President Trump’s motivation and in the framework of his falsehood that the election had been stolen from him.
I have not examined the information in detail, but sensible people, including Trump competitors, tell me there is little information of a real rebellion. They point out that Trump himself had urged the protest to “peacefully” outcry because they had no weapons, no plans, or any ability to seize control of the government.
Like some fair Americans, I am concerned about the possibility that social priorities motivated the strength of the trial of the J6 accused, their long phrases, and their harsh care. That would suit a disturbing pattern of the weaponization of state agencies — the DoJ, the IRS, the SEC, the FBI, etc. — against democratic competitors.
As I do, Donald Trump and everything he stands for can still be stung by the government’s use of force against him.
As President, I will appoint a special counsel to look into whether judicial discretion was abused for social purposes in this case, and I will correct any errors we find. I will also appoint a person who is well-known on all sides. Without a fair rule of law, there is no real democracy or spiritual leadership. That’s why John Adams, a fervent nationalist, defended the English soldiers involved in the Boston Massacre in jury. If we violate the law in the name of justice in the name of an excellent, that act may corrupt everything we do.
Both formation parties are using J6 to put fuel on the fireplace of America’s units. Each area asserts that politics will stop if their rivals win. Next, everything is justified to prevent them. In order to save politics, we run the risk of destroying it.
Let’s concentrate on the problems and priorities of how they will manage rather than using legitimate maneuvers and ugly tricks to demonize our adversaries as horrific threats to politics. Presidents Trump and Biden both presided over the extended worsening of our national debt, severe disease outbreaks, state problem, erosion of civil liberties, and overseas military entanglements. Perhaps it’s because the establishment parties have so little disagreement with these pressing issues that they otherwise focus on demonizing their opponents and those who support them.
Due to the anti-democratic caucus system, which is a constraint to insurgent candidates in the main, Kennedy left the Democrat Party after it became apparent that it would be impossible for him to get enough delegates to issue former President Joe Biden.
In some polls, Kennedy is polling significantly higher than Trump and Biden. Trump is ahead of Biden in the majority of swing states.
