    Diplomatic Breakup as Ecuadoran Cops Storm Mexican Embassy

    Shortly after police causes from that nation stormed the Mexican Embassy, Mexico’s President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador ordered the suspension of all diplomatic relations with Ecuador.

    When authorities detained past Ecuadorian Vice President Jorge Glas Espinel, a fugitive from justice who was requesting political hospital while he was a criminal, who was reportedly residing at Mexico’s Embassy after asking for political prison, on Friday evening in Quito, Ecuador, the political dust-up occurred.

    Glas Espinel served as the government’s vice president from 2013 until his removal in 2017 during a extortion scandal. Since therefore, he has been found guilty and given a number of words for bribery-related offenses.

    The government of Mexico disputed the attack and claimed that Ecuadori officers had assaulted Mexican diplomats. The Mexican Embassy in Ecuador’s mind, Roberto Canseco, claimed that he was struck by officers when he attempted to repress them to leave the building.

    Ecuador’s authorities issued a statement in support of their activities, claiming Glass Espinel had recently been found guilty of a number of corruption crimes and was therefore a fugitive and never politically persecuted. According to Reuters, the former lawmaker claimed the current government had targeted him and had been living at the Mexican consulate since December. He had requested asylum while he had been there. Ecuador’s authorities had earlier requested permission to enter the military and assault Glas Espinel, but they were turned down.
