Within the same week, illegal immigrants who had entered a thick school in New Mexico were forced to undergo quarantine half to avoid being detained by United States Border Patrol agents.
Travis Dempsey, director of the Gadsden Independent School District, claimed that illegal immigrants who entered Santa Teresa Middle School double forced them to switch to safe mode. The director noted that the first lockdown occurred on March 20 and the subsequent quarantine occurred on March 27. Dempsey explained that the next incident caused the school to go on lockdown for around 20 minutes before Border Patrol agents detained six undocumented students.
Dempsey told KFOX14,” It is concerning and it does at some point interrupt our education process.”
Maria Gallegos, a family of one of the middle school students, expressed the group’s problems following the two lock situations. Gallegos told KFOX14,” We’re a little nervous because with the fear and nerves migrants have of being caught by immigration officials, we do n’t know if they’d do something to our students”.
The El Paso Border Patrol confirmed that six unlawful immigrants were detained “outside” of the Santa Teresa Middle School on March 27 in a statement obtained by KFOX14. Given the “proximity of the border,” the El Paso Border Patrol stated that it was” common” for Border Patrol agents to “receive calls from the community” close to the school.

When they observed our officials and various law enforcement in the university’s proximity, the Santa Teresa Middle School was put on a protected status for a moment as a precautionary measure.
According to Refugio Corrales, a spokeswoman for the Customs and Border Patrol, unlawful immigrants are frequently discovered attempting to avoid being detained by Border Patrol agents in the Santa Teresa and Sunland Park areas.
According to Corrales,” The Santa Teresa Middle School is one of the places these immigrants jump into without considering where they’re going because they’re attempting to avoid being detained.”
