After being accused of deceiving a judge to grant them the rights to the house and terrorizing their companions, a couple of brave New York tenants are asking to get declared “heirs” to the abandoned estate they have been living in.
Denton Gayle, 29, and Margaret Grover, 19, have been staying at the almost$ 900, 000 Long Island home with their newborn son and dog for many months, the New York Post reported.
The home — which has a Porsche parked in the driveway — was kicked out of the house in October 2023 after a troubled resident called 911 to report that they had their child living in squalor, with no heat, light, or working rooms.  ,
The Iacono home owned the home before the people passed, according to a report from the city of North Hempstead for a building inspection that included an “unlivable” house.
However, a Nassau County prosecutor re-granting the pair access to the home after they provided documents proving that they had a lease with Edward Iacono, who has been dead for years.
Gayle and Grover claimed to have signed a lease with Iacono in July, and they even had a false “landlord” sign printed on the document.
This striking issue was raised by the attorneys for the U.S. National Bank Association, but Nassau Housing Court Judge Christopher Coschignano had now allowed the tenants to return.  ,
According to” A review of this’leave’,” Mr. Iacono allegedly executed it on or around June 1, 2023. But, Mr. Iacono has been deceased since 2016″, the company’s lawyers wrote in a Tuesday text after the pair asked to be “heirs”.
” A version of the dying certification is enclosed herewith”, they continued. It is obvious that the offered license is false and invalid as a result.
After first allowing them to move back in December and also requesting assistance from the Nassau County Police Department, Coschignano ordered the couple to leave the property in March, but their expulsion is pending.  ,
Every instant Iacono household part has passed away since 2018. Despite having no connection to the Iaconos, legal documents from the Post  reveal Grover and Gayle requested to remain “added as kin” to the 39 Brussel Drive home.  ,
The child’s attorney, William Igbokwe, has refuted all the states against his customers.  ,
The point they’re asking for these will help us to put our own voice and testimony to the record as the Courts try to determine what happened around and what the future steps are, he said.” We’re not trying to play the system or ask for anything cruel,” he said.
Almost 50 people were forced to leave a February town meeting after companions have been begging nearby authorities to do the same.
One resident claimed that Gayle allegedly charged down the street at him in indignation, and that” we really believe that these people are going to be vindictive.”
He” came running down the block screaming,’ Answer me, talk to me.’ I did not need to fight him”, said the gentleman.
” I’m scared to leave my home alone”, said cousin Jerry Jacob.
He claimed that at least eight neighbors have just purchased weapons to guard themselves from both the occupiers and a” accidental reckless of break-ins in the area.”
” There’s no reasoning with these people”, said another neighbor. ” They cause a lot of panic, they’re insulting to neighbors and never concerned about safety for whoever’s around”.
” The assess screwed up, and now we have to deal with the consequences”, another anxious citizen told the outlet. The Town of North Hempstead has been completely worthless, according to the statement.
