After being found guilty on first degree intentional homicide charges for the 2018 crime, a Wisconsin woman who fatally poisoned her friend and stole nearly$ 300,000 from her has been given a life sentence.
Jessy Kurczewski “bawled” in jury as she appeared in court on Friday to defend her ignorance before the Waukesha County Circuit Court, according to the Daily Mail.
The 40- yr- aged woman was found guilty of murdering family friend Lynn Hernan, 62, in October 2018 by giving her a water bottle containing a lethal dose of tetrahydrozoline, the key ingredient in Visine eye drops, before manipulating the crime scene to emerge as a suicide.
She therefore drained Hernan’s addresses of$ 290, 210 by improperly paying herself with the victim’s money.
Hernan’s body was discovered by authorities on October 3 after Kurczewski called emergency services to survey her as being “unresponsive”, the channel stated.
Despite the claim that Hernan had died from a suicide or an unintended overdose, she was ultimately detained on July 9, 2019.
On November 14, 2023, she was found guilty of first-degree killing.
Judge Jennifer Dorow showed no mercy at the most recent reading, handing down a protracted statement that would only allow for transfer registration after Kurczewski has served 30 times.
” It is a lot to be accused and convicted of murder, when I did n’t do it. It wo n’t bring her back, and it wo n’t make her loss any easier”, Kurczewski, who was reportedly the victim’s caregiver, sobbed during her testimony.
” You’re holding me accountable for what she did — those were her choices, her options, her activities, and no one else’s, not even stone”.
” I think the conditions that I have when I think on, not only the seriousness of the offense but the need to protect the public, that’s one of the key components around”, Dorow said, according to WISN.
When the felon is available for supervised release, the judge continued to point out how old she will be.
” That may make you, without the robbery costs, close to 70 years of age, older than what Lynn had be now. Literally older, I think 30 years is a pretty significant amount of time”, she said. ” But my goal is actually 80 for you. That is why you will provide the most sentences on counts two and three, sequential to count one and subsequent to count three.
The prosecutor added,” There’s truly no somebody who’s safe from you when it comes to your commitment to steal, to defraud”.
A colleague of Hernan’s, James Keliher, gave a powerful influence speech.
” Your Honor, Jessy cruelly murdered my companion, Lynn Hernan. Jessy should be sentenced to life in prison with no possibility of actually receiving a parole. He said,” I would be asking you for that if Wisconsin had the death penalty,” Court TV reported.

Keliher claimed that Hernan’s criminal also killed some of her dogs, and took edge of her financially.
Jessica reportedly had another ideas; she looked up online tips for killing people without being caught. I believe Jessy started poisoning Lynn in 2016 and stealing Lynn’s wealth and her property. Jessy poisoned Lynn like she was a rodent”, the devastated man continued.
He went on to debate Kurczewski’s say that Hernan overdosed.
” Lynn was never a fiend or a fool, that was Jessy. She continued to venom Lynn until she passed away, he said before blaming the prisoner for being “pure evil.”
” … the Devil lives inside her”, Keliher said. She attempted to steal Lynn’s identity, which was impossible because she is too damned unpleasant, to be true.
He continued to say that he hopes she “rots in hell.”
She’s the worst of society, she’s a worthless human being. She’s a identified liar, she’s a criminal, and now she’s a convicted criminal.
Jessy, I hope you’re taken advantage of and treated like you’ve treated Lynn, and then passed around like a used piece of meat when you arrive at your new house.
The least of your fears is living in prison without the possibility of parole. Children’s prison is gonna feeling like a Holiday Inn compared to where you’re headed. The Devil is waiting for you. I hope you rot in hell.
Hernan’s defense group claimed Kurczewski would have believed Hernan’s companion, who is accused of killing her, was” crazy.”
” If Lynn Hernan was that now, she had say,’ Are you mad, prosecution?'” attorney Pablo Galaviz stated.
Donna Kuchler, also one of Kurczewski’s defense counsel, said Hernan endowed her client cash” all the time” so she would have no reason to steal.
” Giving cash to Jessy made her happy. Jessy was like her child”, she claimed.
The convicted murderer’s attorneys argued that Hernan died from a combination of problems medication, but that was not corroborated by the medical attorney’s review, which showed they found tetrahydrozoline in her program.
