Migration Would Never Have Been Allowed to Run Wild if Britain’s Democracy Was Healthy, Warns Farage

If the country’s democracy had n’t been so broken, Brexit leader Nigel Farage reflected as he waited for this year’s general election, which he claimed has little hope of meaningful change, and predicted that Britain’s soaring migration-driven population would never have been allowed to occur.

The result will be essentially the same as it was predicted by Brexit head Nigel Farage on Monday, noting that the country may be better served by a Swiss-style hyper-democracy where the government are empowered to call their own parliaments and — critically — the results are legally binding.

In Britain, the’ Republicans ‘ Are but Missing The Left is Plausibly Attacking Them on Tax and Migration Being to Highhttps: //t. co/X2DIHzPEKF

    — Breitbart London ( @BreitbartLondon ) March 6, 2024

According to Mr. Farage, who spoke to a crowd of news readers staged by The Daily Telegraph in London on Monday, self-serving election changes under the last left-wing government under Tony Blair in the early 2000s led to a devaluation of the program and a rise in corruption. When Mr. Farage is going through a long list of fundamental problems with British democracy that need to be addressed, he said,” the left will always win” at the postal voting and ballot-gathering business because they do n’t feel any moral obligation to do it. They see it as part of the “game” of politics and fair in the face of conservatively-minded politicians who they believe are not deserving of fair play.

He said:” I’m suggesting]all elections with postal votes ] are corrupt. Every election that is held in cities across this nation ca n’t be relied upon to produce a completely accurate and fair result. Instead, skip the postal votes and return to the pre-2001 system. And they’re signed up to it.

” Helen Pidd, who was the northern correspondent for]left- wing newspaper ] &nbsp, The Guardian, in the]Oldham West, 2015 ] byelection said’ I went down a street in which nobody spoke English. Although very few people knew Jeremy Corbyn, I was informed that they had all voted Labour by the interpreter. That indicates how unbiased this is.

Farage compared American elections where digital voting machines undermine trust in presidential elections in France, where votes are cast in person on paper, and a traditional system of hand-counting observed by independent monitors sees results determined quickly and without controversy. British elections are where postal votes, which he claims are actually used for political purposes. Not one of you can give me an example in your lifetimes of there being a contested result in a French election”, he said, noting” That is how elections should be conducted.”

According to Farage, the fundamentals of British politics need to be altered to bring the people’s central point of authority in political decisions closer to them. A part of this would be adding a “portionality” element to the British electoral system, which would argue that the current system’s winner-takes-all constituency votes was more appropriate for an earlier age. Similar arguments have been made by others that the half-millennia-old system of individuals delegating total political power to a member of parliament could be refined.

Farage praised Switzerland’s direct democracy system, which allows for small, legally binding referendums frequently but is not frequent. In the United Kingdom a petition that gains 100, 000 signatures” are considered for debate” — which essentially promises and achieves nothing — while in Switzerland, 100, 000 signatures triggers a popular referendum.

He said,” Looking at Switzerland, which is probably the most democratic nation in the world, can constitutionally call a referendum on a matter if the Swiss people want to hold a legally binding vote on it because they believe the country’s parliament is in disarray.” I believe that if we had that ability, ten million people would never have grown in this nation. A ballot paper would have been printed with a question in some way.

Regarding the immigration issue, referenda have actually been held in Switzerland and ended, but as in the United Kingdom, the political class has tried to obstruct the people’s democratically expressed will. The new referendum, which was just last week supported by 114,600 signatories, stated that the majority of people who will remain permanently will not exceed 10 million by 2050, and that this would be accomplished by severely limiting migration.

    — Breitbart London ( @BreitbartLondon ) March 28, 2024

The proposal stipulates that Switzerland would be required to suspend its right to movement with the European Union if other measures failed to do so. This was the pretext the government used to thwart progress in putting into place the results of the most recent referendum. Leader of the Swiss populist party backing the initiative&nbsp, Marcel Dettling said:” Today, too many foreigners are arriving, and not the right ones. We require a controlled immigration that benefits both our nation and our population.

Farage said of UK politics today that the country is n’t even having an” sincere conversation” about immigration because the country is far from holding referendums on it. Reflecting again how this year’s election promised no meaningful change in Westminster, he said:

We simply have to stop the population explosion, so the first thing we need to do is have a sincere conversation about it. We ca n’t let it continue in this manner. Given that 85 per cent of that rise is directly down to immigration. It’s not about limiting how many children people have or anything else similar.

If we continue to have our law-making bodies being made up in the same way, whether you get Rishi back or Keir Starmer, I believe there is a very low chance that anything will change at all. The differences are pretty marginal. I do n’t quite follow the uniparty conspiracy theory, but in reality you have two forms of social democracy, one past the post-electoral system that supports both sides.

Because, as the Brexit referendum demonstrated, we as British citizens are unable to hold referendums on crucial issues, the country would be very, very different if we did. We would still be members of the European Union if the Brexit Party had left the issue to Westminster. Hence, the reason I chose the name” Reform” in the first place was that we needed to fundamentally alter how we make these decisions. Nothing much will change in the NHS, regardless of whether the Conservatives or Labour win.
