The mind of the U.N.’s nuclear watchdog organization, nuclear watchdog, criticized a drone strike on one of the six atomic reactors at the Ukrainian-controlled Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant on Sunday, saying that such attacks” drastically increase the risk of a main nuclear accident.”

Rafael Mariano Grossi confirmed that there had been at least three strong strikes against the ZNPP major furnace isolation buildings in a statement posted on the social media platform X. ” This cannot happen”, he said.

Russia blamed Ukraine for the assault, but the U. N.’s International Atomic Energy Agency did n’t feature blame. No immediate comment was made by Kyiv leaders.

He claimed it was his first strike since November 2022, when he established five fundamental rules to prevent a major nuclear incident with radiological repercussions.

Russian military drones targeted the site on Sunday, according to plant officials, including one targeting the fifth power unit’s dome.

After the cuts, the plant’s authorities claimed that there were no serious injuries or casualties, and that the energy levels were maintained. But, Rosatom, a Russian state-owned nuclear company, reported later on Sunday that three people had been injured in the “unprecedented collection of satellite attacks,” particularly when a drone struck an area close to the site’s restaurant.

The drone attack was revealed by the International Atomic Energy Agency on Sunday, according to the agency’s experts, and that” for detonation is consistent with IAEA observations.”

In a split speech, the IAEA confirmed real effect of aircraft strikes at the flower, including at one of its six reactors. One fatality was reported, it said.

The damage to device 6 has never compromised nuclear security, but this is a significant incident that has the potential to compromise the reactor’s containment system’s integrity, it added.

Since Moscow sent soldiers into Ukraine in 2022 and seized the service soon after, the power plant has been in a state of flux. The IAEA has repeatedly expressed concern about the nuclear power plant, Europe´s largest, amid worries of a possible nuclear catastrophe. Russia and Ukraine have frequently accused one of attacking the herb, which is still on the front lines.

Although the plant’s six units have been shut down for weeks, essential cooling system and other safety functions however require power and skilled employees.

Additionally, on Sunday, three people died in the front-line city of Huliaipole in the partially held southeast of Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region after their homes were struck by a Russian bullet. Ivan Fedorov said. Later on Sunday, two persons were wounded in another shooting of Huliaipole.

Individually, three people were wounded in Russian shooting in Ukraine´s east Kharkiv region, according to local Gov. Oleh Syniehubov.

In Russia, a girl was killed and four others were hurt when the dirt from a broken Ukrainian helicopter fell on a car traveling along the Ukrainian border in the Belgorod region of the country. Vyacheslav Gladkov said.
