The Las Cruces District Office of the United States Bureau of Land Management is seeking people feedback on a plan to raise fees at the Southern New Mexico’s Three Rivers Petroglyph Site.
The area is proposing to raise fees for time- employ, campground, and team facilities, it said in a news release.
The suggested price rises are as follows:
- Day use from$ 5 to$ 7,
- Campsites from$ 7 to$ 10,
- Tour bus fees from$ 15 to$ 20,
- RV hookup campsites from$ 18 to$ 25, and
- Group site fee from$ 50 to$ 60 per day.
It is anticipated that these adjustments will begin in the late summer of 2024.
The page preserves more than 21, 000 petroglyphs over 50 acres.
It is located 17 miles northeast of Tularosa, New Mexico, and 28 miles west of Carrizozo on U. S. 54.
” These price increases are being proposed to fulfill growing maintenance needs because the site’s working and visitation costs have increased. Since changing costs more than 12 times ago, According to a press release released by the BLM’s Las Cruces company, the new proposed fees will help the BLM to strengthen services, add amenities desired by visitors, and help maintain the site remains a position the government can be proud of for years to come.
According to the news release, the BLM “is proposing to use the increase in funding to widely increase recreational amenities, by adding more RV sites with utility hookups and shade structures, release the water system, and increase upon and enhance all analytical exhibits, signage, and kiosks across the site.”
