More New Zealanders ( NZers ) than ever are dissing the news, and an increasing number of people do n’t believe it.
Each year, the Auckland University of Technology’s Centre for Journalism Media and Democracy ( JMAD ) surveys over 1, 000 people to gauge their opinion of the country’s news media, and each year, for publishers and broadcasters, the picture looks bleaker than the previous year.
In 2024, entire confidence in the information has fallen to only 33 percent—down from 42 pct in 2023. That places it far below the national average of 40 %.
