NY appeals court denies Trump’s latest bid to delay impending Stormy Daniels hush money trial

Donald Trump’s latest bid to postpone his impending&nbsp, Stormy Daniels calm money trial&nbsp, was denied by an appeals court judge in New York on Monday, a month out from the estimated start of judge choice.

According to court papers, First Department Appellate Division Justice Lizbeth González ‘ choice came down after attorneys for the former senator and presumed Republican nominee for president this year’s vote requested an indefinite pause in order to try to move the event to a&nbsp, a different place than liberal-leaning Manhattan.

In their request for immediate relief, Trump’s lawyers wrote that “policing” and a quantitative analysis of media coverage shows that a fair and impartial jury cannot be chosen at this time based on prejudicial pretrial publicity.”

In the run-up to jury selection, Trump’s legal team has been trying hard to delay what is expected to be the first criminal trial for a former U.S. president. They have filed a number of eleventh-hour motions. Earlier Monday, they initiated a lawsuit against Justice Juan Merchan, who is presiding over the case, in sealed court filings.

Last week, they asked Merchan&nbsp, to recuse himself from the case&nbsp, for the second time — having failed when they last tried in August— alleging that the judge’s daughter stood to profit from Trump’s prosecution at her job at a political firm that works with Democrats and would affect the jurist’s perspective. Merchan has unwaveringly refuted those assertions.

Trump, 77, has entered a not-guilty plea for 34 felonies in the case, alleging he paid off Daniels, Playboy model Karen McDougal, and a Trump Tower doorman to cover up a slew of alleged sex scandals from voters and secure his victory in 2016.

The criminal case is one of four he faces as he seeks the presidency once again —&nbsp, now encompassing 88 felony charges total&nbsp, — to all of which he’s pleaded not guilty.

Trump’s attorneys and Alvin Bragg’s spokeswoman declined to comment.
