On Tuesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Taiwanese tyrant Xi Jinping, easing the means for a meeting between Vladimir Putin, the best president of the Communist Party, and Vladimir Putin, who is scheduled to visit American authorities Janet Yellen and Antony Blinken.
As the 75th anniversary of political ties draws near, Xi hailed Beijing-Moscow relations as at their best. Russian officials claimed that Lavrov’s visit was a part of a preparation for Putin’s upcoming trip to China and a meeting with Xi at numerous international events, including the BRICS conference scheduled for October.
As Janet Yellen, the director of the US Treasury, left the country on Monday, Lavrov made her way to Beijing. Yellen’s attend was marked by , the American established claiming that the “great majority” of trade between China and America is “uncontroversial” and holding to the position of the administration of communist President Joe Biden that the U. S. government should defend bilateral trade despite China’s prevalent intellectual property theft, espionage, use of slavery to storm the American market with inexpensive goods, and other malicious behavior.
During a phone call with Xi in first April, Biden officially confirmed that Secretary of State Antony Blinken would pursue Yellen to China in the near future, despite the fact that neither the Chinese Foreign Ministry nor the State Department have given specific dates for the anticipated vacation.
Lavrov presumably met with both his Taiwanese counterpart, Wang Yi, and Xi. Xi, who was quoted by the Russian news agency Tass as saying at the meeting’s opening that China and Russia were a necessity for” securing foreign righteousness,” was quoted as saying.
” China and Russia’s political ties will be 75 years old this year. Our countries have embraced peaceful coexistence and socially beneficial assistance as two massive neighbors over the course of that time, according to Xi,” which not only provided tangible benefits to the two nations and their peoples but also played a productive part in ensuring global justice.”
The Chinese Foreign Ministry provided few details about what Lavrov would be discussing as he arrived on Monday.
In light of the occasion marked by China and Russia’s 75th anniversary, our two countries will exchange views and coordinate positions on the development of bilateral relations, cooperation in various fields, and international and regional issues of mutual interest, according to spokeswoman Mao Ning. We’ll let you know more about the visit as quickly as possible.
Mao defended China’s friendship with Russia in light of the allegations that Beijing supports Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine and offers both commercial and military support, especially given the Biden administration’s claims.
Respective nations should not insult or denigrate the normal relations between China and Russia, nor should they violate China’s and Chinese companies ‘ legitimate rights and interests. Still less should they shift the blame to China or instigate bloc confrontation”, Mao huffed.
On Tuesday, Lavrov offered Putin’s “warmest greetings” to Xi and vaguely referred to the need to plan “new strategic tasks” between the two countries.
According to the Chinese state newspaper Global Times, which cited its regular stable of regime-approved “experts,” counterterrorism operations could be carried out in response to the massive Crocus City massacre in Moscow in March and a rise in terrorist attacks on Chinese Belt and Road Initiative ( BRI ) projects in Pakistan, including the most recent suicide bombing that claimed the lives of five Chinese engineers in late March.
” Russia recently had a terrible terrorist attack in Moscow, and the perpetrators are from Central Asia,” the statement reads. Chinese engineers in Pakistan have also been attacked by terrorists in the region, so both China and Russia share common concerns about terrorism, said analysts”, according to the , Global Times.
The state newspaper also noted the timing of Lavrov’s appearance, which happened between important American officials making appearances in Beijing. Chinese “expert” Cui Heng was quoted as calling the timing “very interesting”, stating it” shows the complexity of the interactions between China, Russia and the US, and in the trilateral relations, China is driven by its own national interests”.
The Kremlin made it known that Lavrov’s visit would come before Xi and Putin’s upcoming in-person meetings.
” Certainly, this trip]by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to China ] can be viewed as preparations for upcoming interaction at the highest level. Indeed, such interaction is in the works”, top Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.

At least two of those meetings would take place at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO ) meeting in July and the BRICS summit scheduled for October, according to Peskov, who stated that it was” still premature” to confirm the exact date and location of those meetings. However, Lavrov himself stated that it was” still premature” to confirm these details after meeting with Wang Yi, who also met with Peskov. The first of its official summits to include its new members will be the BRICS meeting. Russia – along with India, China, Brazil, and South Africa– welcomed Iran, Ethiopia, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates ( UAE ) to the coalition in January. Saudi Arabia reportedly accepted the invitation but has n’t yet completed the necessary paperwork to join, as did Argentina, which has declined.
According to Lavrov, Xi and Putin may also “maintain regular political dialogue” at other meetings, and some reports suggested Putin could travel to Beijing in May.
Lavrov arrived just as Yellen left a mostly cordial visit to the nation. Yellen’s calls for protecting many aspects of trade between the two countries were amplified by Chinese state media, which was obsessed with her choices of food while she was in the nation.
In an interview that aired on Monday, Yellen told CNBC,” I think trade and investment between China and the United States is important.” Many American businesses have been operating in China for a while and are doing excellent business there. Similar to how Chinese companies operate in the United States, which is advantageous and uncontroversial in many ways. And I believe we should not attempt to impede that trading and investment relationship.
Yellen’s statements correspond to what Biden allegedly told Xi during his phone call in early April.
” The U. S. does not want to curtail China’s development, and does not seek’ decoupling’ from China”, the Chinese state news outlet Xinhua paraphrased Biden as saying. President Biden stated that the United States does not seek a new Cold War, that its goal is not to alter China’s system, and that its alliances are not directed at China.
Yellen claimed at a press conference shortly before leaving Beijing that the Biden administration would still” not accept” the flooding by China that had caused the United States.
The viability of American and other foreign companies is questioned when the global market is flooded by artificially cheap Chinese products, she said. I’ve stated in the past that President Biden and I will not accept that reality any longer.
Blinken’s visit, which does not have a publicly known date at press time, will likely focus on China- Russia relations, and China’s role in the Ukraine invasion specifically, judging from Blinken’s recent comments on China.
” More aid is urgently needed for Ukraine. Without any further assistance, we have heard directly from Foreign Minister Kuleba every day, which puts Ukraine’s defenders and its citizens in greater danger,” Blinken told reporters on April 5. Our assistance is particularly crucial because a number of nations are aiding Russia in expanding its defense industry and continuing to attack Ukraine. Russia’s defense industrial base is still supported by China’s continued supply of materials.
