Inadvertently, Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo admitted to Congress on Tuesday that the$ 6 billion that the Biden administration froze for Iran in exchange for the return of five American prisoners was likely used to finance violent activity.
During his evidence to the Senate Banking Committee, Adeyemo said:
Senator, you’re appropriate that in a republic, wealth is fungible. However, the Iranian government has repeatedly failed to provide food for its citizens and put the [ Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps ] second. Before they deal with their persons, any money they have will go toward their aggressive behavior. That’s one reason why so little charitable aid has been used for charitable projects.
They are uninterested in providing food and drugs to their citizens. The difference is that the United States of America has stated as a value proposition that we are always ready to deliver humanitarian aid to people, and that is why we have stated that this money is only used for humanitarian purposes. Money is exchangeable in Iran, but they’ve shown that any money they receive that they have direct access to in the state will be used for the IRGC before it’s ever used for its citizens.
. @USTREASURE DEP Sec Adeyemo acknowledges that “any money they have will go toward their aggressive action before they deal with their individuals.”
That’s precisely why we need to go @SenatorTimScott‘s Revoke Iranian Funding Act to stop Iran’s funding of violence. photograph. twitter.com/yDQhR9l64S

The Biden administration argued that the money would only be used for charitable requirements in August when Iran received the funds in exchange for the Americans.
Republicans claimed that because money was exchangeable, it would give Iran more money to use to fund terrorist proxies in the area.
Around 1,200 people died in a horrific terrorist attack in southern Israel shortly after the Biden management unfroze those funds, including some human women, children, and old people who were supported by the Arab terrorist organization Hamas, which launched the attack. Has even kidnapped about 250 people and released less than half.
More than 40 people have been injured and three have been killed while fighting American forces based in those countries, according to other Iranian-supported proxy groups in Iraq and Syria.
In contrast, Yemen’s Houthis, supported by Iran, have launched numerous attacks on American military and commercial vessels in the Red Sea. Two Navy SEALs were killed in the Arabian Sea while attempting to detonate Egyptian arms before heading to Country.
