According to the prosecution, Alec Baldwin showed a total disregard for safety and had” no control” over his thoughts on the 2021 set of” Rust” where he unintentionally fired a live round that resulted in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
The 66-year-old” 30 Rock” producer and star of the Western, who was producing and starring in it, was accused of involuntary manslaughter in January, a year after being first accused of allegedly assisting in the shooting that left director Joel Souza and Hutchins ‘ career.
Now responding to his lawyers ‘ motion to drop the latest charges, special prosecutors Kari T. Morrissey and Jason J. Lewis say the Emmy winner , displayed a” complete lack of concern for the safety of those around him”  , on the New Mexico set, Sky News reports.
The most recent court filing from the Baldwins’s team reads,” To view Mr. Baldwin’s do on the collection of Rust” is to see a person who has absolutely no control over his own feelings and absolutely no concern for how his perform affects those around him.” Witnesses have alleged that this precise behavior caused security agreements on set.
Citing footage and interviews with members of the crew, the filing alleges that Baldwin “was in charge” and, while “most everyone else noticed” that armorer Hannah Gutierrez- Reed was “inexperienced and overwhelmed”, the actor could n’t see she was” not up to the job”, per Sky.
The fresh filing comes only days before Gutierrez- Reed, whose part put her in charge of supervising arms on the” Metal” set, is to be sentenced next Monday, after she was  , found guilty last month of involuntary manslaughter. The 26- time- old’s conviction carries a statement of up to 18 months behind bars and a$ 5, 000 good, according to The Associated Press.
Baldwin, who has denied wrongdoing,  , pleaded no guilty , in January and is set to remain trial in July. In their motion to dismiss, his lawyers referred to the allegations against him as” a system abuse.”
In contrast, Baldwin’s attorneys claim that he has repeatedly described” a different version of events… and his early claims contradicted his past statements.”
