Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced that assaulting a store employee will be treated as a separate legal crime as part of a government’s change in financial crime plan.
Offenders may receive an endless fine and a prison sentence that could go up to six months in prison. They could also be banned from the factory facilities, where they committed an infraction. In cases where the perpetrators violate the ban, they may spend up to five years in prison.
The Criminal Justice Bill, which is currently being debated in parliament, will include the steps.
Enough is enough, I’m sending a message to those criminals who think they can get away with stealing from these regional organizations or abusing shopworkers, whether they are serious organized criminal groups, repeat offenders, or greedy thieves. Our local stores are the essence of our communities, and they must be free to deal without the risk of violence or abuse”, Mr. Sunak said in a declaration….
