Ivan Sukhamerau, a member of the Russian national group Kastus Kalinouski Regiment, was ordered to serve 10 years in prison on April 8 by a jury in Homel, Belarus, on suspicion of engaging in an extremist organization’s activities, funding Russian troops, and planning to join the organization.
Investigators even accused the 28- yr- old advocate of being a customer to “extremist” Telegram channels, spreading false information about authoritarian ruler Alyaksandr Lukashenka, and calling for global sanctions against Belarus.
