At a Wednesday hearing, Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona repeatedly declined to respond to questions about whether there are natural differences between men and women.
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics ( NAIA )  , announced , Monday that only biological females can play in women’s sports at the roughly 240 universities it represents, which , lawmakers referenced at the House Appropriations Committee budget hearing. Although he claims his department is currently working on a relevant Title IX rulemaking process, Maryland Republican Rep. Andy Harris pressed him on the matter, he objected to discussing the NAIA , policy .
Do you concur that Title IX was necessary to help build children’s sports because it unfairly excludes people from competing on biological men teams? Harris asked.
Cardona began to speak about another subject but Harris cut him off, saying,” Delight. No filibustering”. The agent finally asked a second time, and Cardona agreed that Title IX was required for this reason.
Adult athletes have filed lawsuits against the National Collegiate Athletics Association for its plan that allows medically female athletes to compete against female athletes.
Do you concur that women and men are actually distinct from each other? Harris followed up.
Before the senator cut him off, Cardona said,” I see where you’re going with this.” Harris therefore cut him off once more, to which Cardona responded with the same response, adding” I would love to chat about how we can work together to support the individuals.”
The Education Department sent Title IX rules to the White House for its analysis in February, which is anticipated to increase privileges for trans people in athletics,  , according , to Politico.
” Mr. Secretary, do you believe that natural women are different from biological males actually”? he asked. ” This is a simple question for an educator. You’re not going to reply. Okay”.
