Biden, Japanese leader downplay rift over Nippon Steel acquisition of U.S. Steel

President Obama said on Wednesday that he” stands by” his devotion to American staff in his opposition to a Chinese company’s plan to buy Pittsburgh-based U.S. material, a statement Mr. Biden reiterated in a press conference with Japan’s prime minister.
